For those of us in the midwest and northeast, not too many good flying days are left!!! Instead of cutting grass and doing a list what the house gestapo gives me, I headed out to the club's field. Man that 1.5 mile drive is gonna kill me!!! LOL!!!! Took a couple of planes that I had just repaired, one being a space walker 2 and the other, a sig kougar. The space walker last flew a few weeks ago at another club. I'm coming in on final setting up for landing. Seen this tree. "man, that SOB is awfully close"!!!! CRUNCH!!! Wing ripped off from the wing saddle mount and busted up some of the wood. I have since repaired it using some fiberglas cloth and 30 minute epoxy. The kougar, all it needed was a new plastic arm that moves the front landing gear. The old one just was too brittle
and broke. Got to field and fueled up. Another member (Jeff) showed up with his featherlite trailer hauling 5 largish planes. One of which is his new baby, a 120 sized Cessna Skylane w/saito 1.80 in it. Man what a beauty!!! We got some good stick time in!!!
I like my kougar. $20 plane I got off ebay complete with the servos. I have an Evo .46 on it. Its a blast to just yank and crank it because if you toast it, you don't care all that much. Everyone should have a 'beater' in their fleet!! Heres some pics.....

Nice Cessna! At first, I was thinking "Why did he post a pic of a full scale?" before I read the entire post. I feel sorry for you guys up there, its still 80 degrees with clear skies here in central California. Just, there is a marine layer that hangs around till 10:30 AM or so. [:'(]

Here in Florida it's almost the opposite for me. I boat and surf in the summer and do most of my flying in the winter. It's just too hot and humid during the summer to fly unless you're one of the guys who gets up at 04:00 to get to the field. No thanks!
Went through PA on the way to NY two summers ago. Beautiful State, but too darn cold for me even in the summer. Blood's just too darn thin.....

I like the spacewalker. I like the flight characteristics on real flight G2 lite.

Man, I envy ya'll up there in the north when it is triple digits here, but I can't imagine going months without flying. I have been considering moving up north for years to get out of this heat, but that was before I got into RC planes. I guess I will just need to keep living with the heat so I can fly year round.

I was sick and on meds the last two months. Long story short, I couldn't go out in the heat. In Houston, that is saying something. Like stay indoors.
I flew today for the first time since July 28th. Yippe !!! It was fun. But I do feel a little faint.
Better fly your butt off while you have the chance.

There are lots of good flying days ahead. I live in Iowa and it will not be long until the snow is on the ground and it is -16. does this stop us flying? no way we either put ski's on a trainer or a plane like a cub and fly. also we wear as many layers of clothing as we own lol

I'm scrambling to put the finishing touches onto the Sr. Kadet that has been half built in my basement for the past 2 years!
My 8 year old grandson is prompting me to finish it before the end of this year. That and this would be the first year in 15 that I have not taken any time to fly RC!!
My neighbor (RIP) being retired had always provided new planes to fly year after year and I have not done as much building as I once had. Now that he has departed to the great hanger in the sky, I'm contemplating several projects. First I'm gonna put fusalages together and mate the wings from crashes ago. Then I have plans for a 1/4 scale Swick Taylor Craft w/ Clipped wings that I've wanted to put together for awhyle. Think I'll make it this winters project...

Figment,
I know what you mean about flying. I know you have it a little better down in SA than we do here in SW Oklahoma, but we never really shut down for winter here. We just slow down on flying during the fall/winter months. People say a lot of things about our weahter here, but I tell them that it's just not true. We have 4 distinct seperate seasons here in SW Oklahoma --- hot, hotter, still hot, and Christmas!!!!

It's a good thing there are so many good hobbies. I also do photography, motorcycling, & snowboarding. I bet you Texans & Floridians don't do a lot of snowboarding, eh?
As a newb, I surely won't fly when it's too cold out. It's hard enough to keep the plane in one piece when it's warm & humid. (and the plane isn't too brittle)
We notherners are pretty hardy though. You'd be surprised to hear it, but many of us don't change our lives that much. I ride my bike to the train station for work year-round, except when there's so much snow, I get afraid of cars wiping me out.

YEah NY really does suck for flying, especially NYC< but the are some great clubs 20-30 minutes away, about 20 miles, but the traffic is NY style. SOme northeastern people might have known that we had 8 days of hardcore rain, so i was grounded for the most part, but today is beautiful, but i still cant go, the field is too wet. TOday it will dry and ill go tomorrow, but wait, my parents arent here so i cant, next week is the only time i can go take my easy sport for its second day of flying, ever. I CANT WAIT TO GET MY DRIVERS LICENSE! Oh BOY ONLY NEXT YEAR< AND IM DONE! After i get my license, im goin to all clubs, on my own, inviting my dad to come along, he likes model planes, but the big ones, the ones i cant afford, and i cant fit, so yeah, thats my situation.
