Once you will watch it YOU WILL BE HOOKED! Myself, as an intermediate pilot (Well i don't know, i can proficiently fly my Great Planes easy sport, and i got a flight down in my instructors p51, on low rates). This is the kind of stuff that me as a beginner will dream of, but i would like to fly some kind of bird like this, i cant have one because the space is horrible here in Manhattan. On the other hand, i would like to purchase a plane, smaller, that would be good for some 3D and just plain ol' screwen around. I was thinking either:
GOldBErg WIldstick: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJTV0&P=0
GP UCANDO3D 40: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDUL8&P=0
EXTRA 300 PHOENIX MODELS: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGPL7&P=0
Pheonix GIles 202: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEDN9&P=0
Of course i would start out low rates then work my self up higher. THe plane need to be relatively cheep, so if in any case of a mishap, i need to be able to get another one without hurting the bank.

Welcome to this kind of fun madness we call RC Scale Aerobatics. Check out the IMAC forum here on RC Universe. It deals with this kind of flying. I received the discs on Saturday and throughly enjoyed them. They don't however cover the sequence flying portion of the contest which is where the real point standing are. Really there are 2 contests within a contest. The freestyle doesn't count for overall standing. What we watched are the Unlimited Pilots freestyle routines. There are 5 categories for competetion beginning with Basic (any airworthy plane can be flown only in this category). Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced and Unlimited are the other categories. Check out the IMAC site at www.mini-iac.com which has the sequences and judging criteria.
For learning 3D flying any of your choices except the "Stick" would be good. The UCD would be really easy to learn 3D however it is build really light so won't take a lot of hard landings. The Extra is probably the best overall choice (remember how many Extra versions you viewed in the DVD?) and the Giles would be good for sequence flying.

IT cant be big though. I live in an apartement, and my engine size is pretty much .46. Yeah, every morning i grab the laptop and watch a few nice routines. I believe its really fun. THE only thing i really did "aerobatic" apart from loops and rolls is in inverted pass over the runway, boy what a feeling. I just realized i cant have plane with a fuse length over 0 incehs which istn too fun. I need any kind of plane, just as long as its earobatic, and a taildragger. I have plenty of experience on fms, and on my easy sport. graduated fomr my traienr last school year. DUe to that movie, i found Quiqui somenzini to be one of the best and i grown to be a fan of him. Personally, i think there were some great people there on that movie but i enjoyed Jason Friggs (I dont how to spell it) very muich.
Anyway, recommend any planes, thank you

Get any of those and drop a Saito .82 in it and hover that bad boy at 1/2 throttle. :P
I love my UCD .46 with that engine in it. I can basically harrier it in for a landing. Just don't flop it in and you will be ok.

Samolot-
Get a Hangar 9 Twist 3D. Fuse is 48.5". They fly great and cost $100 or less. Engine is also upright, which makes it a little easier to work with than the UCD.

The Mojo as a one piece plane probably wouldn't work in this case since it needs to fit in a car trunk. I'm more impressed every flight with the Diablo from Black Horse. Last Sunday in 25++ MPH winds it was headed into the wind and progressing backward at a sharp rate. Both direction rolling harriers in place or in reverse! This is a 3 lb. 10 oz dry set up with an Irvine 39 swinging an APC 12.25 x 3.75 prop. The cowl is now on and the new spinner fitted since the engine is now run in and very consistent. This little plane is good in upright harriers and rock solid inverted in harriers and elevators. Tork rolls are better after 10 or more minutes flying as the CG moves rearward. 20+ minutes flights on the included tank. This comes with mounts for electric also. I'm still working on the Taylorcraft and Extreme 3D before I begin my Mojo. For a foamy there are tons of choices. I have a Tribute ready to go if the connectors ever get here. The problem is most are in the $50.00 range and cost up to $450.00 more to get in the air with servos, receivers, speed controllers and a few battery packs with the necessary charger. The Hitec HS-56 karbonite gear servos are the perfect fit. I have flown everything from fanfold designs to the Mini Funtana (really sweet!) and it is amazing what these things will do.
Pick something and get out and fly, fly, fly and fly some more. Only then will you start to gain the experience that will lead you to your next plane. After I watched the Shootout I watched the warbird offering by Wild Berry. I enjoyed them both (which may explain the 3 dozen in the hanger.)

Samolot, For a small electric you might wanna give this Mini Katana a look http://www.precisionaerobatics.com/ I have the Mini Edge 540 by E-Flite, also a very nice little plane but after looking at the specs and carbon fiber materials used thoughout that Katana, I think it might be a higher quality ARF than my Mini Edge. It comes in 4 or 5 different Transparent color schemes to choose from too. Real nice little size for an apartment as well. There's a pic of my little Edge in my models, but as I said I think that Katana will be much nicer. Happy window shopping
I can't comment on how either one flies because I'm not ready to fly it yet. Still trying to get there.
