Need help completing an ARF P-51

I'm puting together a [link=http://www.raidentech.net/pwwwanirarec.html]P-51[/link] ARF while I'm training on Hanger 9's P-51 PTS. I have a optic 6, the servo's, reciever, Engine-which is a 2c .75Cu In by Super Tigre and Propeller. Is there anything that I'm missing Does a nitro need a speed control? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks ~ Lance

you need a battery, maybe a flexible pushrod if you want it for your throttle, but you should see i the arf has a straight shot throttle linkage first. nitros do not need a speed control, they emerged above that level a LONG time ago.
all they need is an actuator of some kind, to move a throttle linkage to open/close the carburator barrel.
you will also need fuel lines, and i dont konw if it supplied in the kit or not.
on top of that, there are plenty of optional things you could put on there, but that is really a case by case type of thing.
is this.
you asked about the speed control on gas engines. does this mean that your PTS is electric?

My Top wing right now is elec. The P-51 PTS is nitro ..... It's on it's way here now. Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

At first glance this may come off as sounding cold hearted, but that isn't what I intend with these comments. The biggest piece of advice that I can give you for completing the plane you mentioned is to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. When you have finished doing that then you should RE-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Then after that you should go through the instructions again to make sure you understand everything. One of the biggest causes of mistakes when putting together a plane such as this is not completely reading the instructions and following what they say.
We could give you advice here until the cows come home, but we can't even come close to what you will find out from the instruction manual. That's going to be your #1 source for information on what you should do to finish the plane. After you've gone through the manual if you have any questions or don't understand anything then come back here and post your questions.

Nitro engines dont use speed controlers...they use servos to control the throttle
Also..just because its mostly assembeled already...dont think everything is going to be put together correctly...Go over all the parts before you glue them together...
I learned to do this the hard way... took 3 extra weeks of fixing what the factory had done wrong...

Listen to what rcken said and go by it!!!!! I would also suggest that you go to a field where they fly nitro and just WATCH & LISTEN, then see if someone there will assist you, even if only for advice but better yet on a buddy box at least for a couple flights.
Nitro IS different from elec. and there isn't any reason to screw up because of EGO or any other reason ( stupidity ). Remember " the only stupid question is the one YOU don't ask " ENJOY !!! RED

hey fellas,
I just up graded my hanger 9 p-51 60 from a 61 to a 91. I noticed before the upgrade it was very nose heavy. Now with the bigger engine i have had to put a lot of weight to balance it right. I was just wondering if it was normal for this particular ARF to need a lot of weight on the tail.

not sure if engine type matters... i m using a magnum .91. i have also put robart air retracts and struts on it. I tried to keep everything over the cg. any way... i don't guess the extra weight will hurt. the plane is level when lifted by the wing tips at the listed center point 4 3/4 inches behind the leading edge. if you have any tips i am all ears.
