Default Hitec 555 vs. Electron 6

I have two planes on the bench, one glow, one electric. I own a Hitec 555, and have an Electron 6 on the way from towerhobbies right now.

Are there any differences between these two rx's. The electric plane will likely be flown more than the glow, should I favor one of these rx's over the other for the electric?

The Electron 6 is a tad lighter. You may want to use that in the electric. I have used both in glow and electric planes with no problems.

I'd used the 555 in the glow and the Electron in the electric. Why, just because the electron is lighter and designed more with electric flight in mind.

Be aware, I've read reports that the Electron can get a bit glitchy if it gets hot. Supposedly this will occur if the receiver gets over 125F. Don't leave it in the sun on a hot day...

Bryris,
In talking with the tech at Hitec one day he stated the 555 is not designed for glow planes.
There is a vertical board soldered to the main board and it may not take the vibrations of the glow engine.
I am not familiar with the Electron 6. I'd recommend going to the Hitec forum here and ask the question.
I know a lot of people have said they have successfully used a 555 in their glows. Is it worth the risk?
I lost a plane with a 555 in it. I don't know the cause but I'm not taking the chance again.

Well, its only a .25 sized airplane, and I am gonna pack it well in foam. I am not worried about it.

I've got 2 Electron 6 receivers and they're in .15-.25 size planes. Both work great.

Well,

I just went to the Hitec website and it doesn't look like they even offer the 555 anymore so once again I own a collector's item..............or 4 of them I should say. I have only used them in gliders and electrics but was planning on using one in a small glow model. I got tired of waiting for a customer service rep so I hung up, do you guys think I'd be risking the model? I have a bunch of Futaba 127 receivers I could use but was just looking to keep the weight down and I don't want to buy another receiver because I have quite a few. Opinions?

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO,

I went to Tower Hobbies and the 555 with Futaba J connectors has been discontinued.
