Default Need expert advise

Hi All,

I am very new to the RC world and planning to buy a RC electric plane.
Can somebody advise me on which is the best one to buy ? I am looking for a plane within a price range of $100.
Also I'll be taking back this to India . so please suggest me a small, cute and fun filled RC plane.

Thanks
Ashok K

I don't consider myself an expert in anything, but I do have some experience, and will share a couple of opinions. First off, $100 is a pretty tight budget to buy a Ready to Fly RC Plane with that would be considerd a descent flyer by most, but if you do some serious shopping around on some of the various auction sites, and also here in the RCU Market Place you might be able to come up with something. Actually a pretty good starter electric with descent quallity aircraft electronics and with a good flying abillity would be something from GWS like either the Pico Tiger Moth or even the Slow Stick. They don't handle much wind, but can be fun to fly in a gym or on a nice calm day!

Just a suggestion and something you might want to consider! $103.00 is also a pretty descent price for this package. I want to add that the radio is an additional $45, but good old used 4 channel radios are usually easy to find dirt cheap at about half that price!

An electic RTF complet plane for under $100 limites you quite a bit. The planes I usually recommend start at around $135, but I will give you the best suggestions I can for $100

I recently came upon this plane, the Hobbico Red Hawk. I have never flown one or seen one flown but for $69 it has 2 chargers, battery and 3 channel control. Assuming the plane lives up to expectations, it is quite a bargain!

For $99, Hobbico also offers this one. Similar package to the Red Hawk but with some flight assistance. Have not flown one or seen one fly.

The HobbyZone Commander 2 is a 2 channel plane, but is very easy to fly. Many people have had great success with it. About $90

The first of the planes that I can recommend with some confidence is the HobbyZone Firebird Freedom.
Firebird Freedom - RTF Electric - $140 - space CL1
This is a three channel plane that incorporates electronic anti-crash
technology which actively monitors the plane's orientation, as it relates to
the ground and sky, and cuts the motor, in tandem with giving neutral steering
and up elevator, if the plane enters a steep dive. This causes the plane to
come out of the dive so the user can regain control. Once pilots gain
experience flying, they can increase maneuverability and overall control by
turning ACT off via the switch on the transmitter
Two piece wing that fits neatly back in the box.. Includes charger and
battery, radio and all that is needed to start flying. .

All of the planes above will need about 600X600 in clear space in order to be flyable by a new flyer.

Slow-V from Parkzone - $140 - Space
Best flown in still to under 5 mph breeze. This is the best choice for people
who only have a small space to fly or who have an indoor place to fly, such as
a gym or
similar space.

That is a pretty good list. I am sure you should find one of those meets your needs.

I tought myself on the firebird. It is a two channel RTF. It's under $100.00 and cheap to replace wings. I was paying $20.00 each for the main wing and $8.00 for the V-tail wing. If you damage the wings you can use aluminume tape to repair it, just put the same amount of tape on the other side to help balanc it. This palne is nothing like a four channel type, in regards of as fun to fly after you learn the four channel, but it was fun learning with. It will teach you the very basic's of flying because you can fly it with or without the landing gear on. Also this is not a good plane for wind because it is very light.

I had the firebird scout. Very similar in cost to the Redhawk by Hobbico that aeajr put up. But after reading that the redhawk is indeed a 3 ch with actual elevator control with the v-tail I would say it's worth the few extra bucks over the $49.99 Firebord Scout. JMO
