Hello folks, I have been reading this forum for a while now and wish to get your help. I am a self taught flyer with just a few crashes. I have a little experence with trainer electrics and I think I am ready to move up to something with more abilitys. I bought a ParkZone Typhoon. I know its a lot of plane for someone without a lot of experence but I hope to fly it straight and level till I get a handle on it then move on up to more fun 3D stuff. Right now I have not flown the plane yet and want any tips on plane setup-radio setup, flying tips. Anything to keep from flying at a high rate of speed into the ground. (HA)
Thanks MXerman

I recommend taping up the area where the tailwheel attaches to the fuse. The tailwheel area tends to break the foam off with just about any sort of bumpy landing.
You have the right idea keeping it in low rates, it's actually a fairly docile flyer & you can cruise around at a decent altitude until your more comfortable with the plane.
For landings, I fly the plane at very little throttle while keeping the nose up & it floats in so slow that my trainer gets jealous.
I'm sure you've read that the servo's tend to strip out on this plane. I've been fairly lucky and not crashed because of this, but I have stripped out several servo's. They just start clicking & the surface movements get a little notchy so I replace the gears in them. I think the servo rebuild packs are only around $1 so the expense isn't huge.
Good luck

It has a big prop so it's not going to fly super fast. The main thing is to keep nice altitude while you are learning.
Don't try hover below 20 feet, inverted passes, touch and go's.
If you hand launch, you should be able to just hold the plane at 45 degree angle, give full throttle and let it go. No need to throw it.
Always helps to put in the sim time first even if all you have is the keyboard for control
