Okay, for starters, two days is not "many". Also, people tend to post less when the things they read are not easy to comprehend (i.e. spelling and grammar problems). Now, I'm not trying to be rude, but you might want to run a spell check on your last couple of posts.
Second, sorry I never replied about my covering scheme. It's not that hard to do, but it took me a while. In fact, I spent more time on covering than I did building the plane (and that includes final assembly time as 'building' time). So, just be prepared for whatever covering you decide on to take you a while if you want it to come out at all decent.
Which reminds me... you may want to work on that patience. It'll certainly be needed during building a kit and definitely during the covering process!
That said, don't get so worked up when people don't post for a little while. Just post something new, interesting, and well-written, and the replies will start right back up. I can almost guarantee it.

Agreed, I think once something starts happening here aka the kit comes or maybe you post some pictures of your cleaned up shop more people will post again. Just not much to say now keep us updated though! [sm=thumbup.gif]

I didn't post over the weekend because my computer is at work and I'm not going to live here just to post on RCU. When you get older, you will appreciate the need for time away. Besides, I was out flying.[sm=lol.gif]
Calm down, people will respond more when there is something to respond to. This isn't a "chat room".
You will need to take it easy on the kit or you may end up with a boomerang instead of an airplane.

Be sure you read the manual carefully a couple of times before starting assemby.
Also inventory the parts and label them carefull so you won't use the wrong part at any time. I find a small piece of masking tape with part number or description on it help a lot.
Then separate the wing parts from the fuselage parts (can be done while marking) so you won't be damaging some parts while looking for others. Keep careful track of small parts and any hardware.
Above all else, TAKE YOUR TIME, test fit carefully BEFORE applying glue. If the part is going to require pins, clamps or tape to hold it where it belongs be sure to have them ready before applying the glue

I have a term paper due fri. so not much work this week on the plane will be done. the shop give me a few more days and it'll be alright, for now at least. I read the manuel once alredy and am about to start reading it again. Then I'll start building(slowly).

Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't have read this post. Like Kevin, I just found out that I qualify as an "old fart" at the tender age of 19.
I hope you guys help me like you did Kevin and support my mid-life crisis as I have now decided to build a 1/4 scale Spitfire [sm=devious.gif]
Dont want to change the topic but...
Kevin, I'm assuming you're in college? How often do you get a chance to buid/fly? I still havent finished my Stunt Wagon I started last summer, and I have so many projects in line. So little time! [:@]
Karter, good luck and have fun with the build!

Spitfire, yah I'm in college, I got to a community college about an hour from my house that has a 2 year aviation science program. I try to come home when I can to go flying/build with my dad, but yah I don't fly models nearly as much as I'd like to. The big advantage is if you fly les, you crash less, therefore i only have 3 projects waiting for me! A cap 232 ARF, a glider kit, and a float kit for my cub. How bout you Spit?
#65
Sounds good!
I go to University of Maryland College Park, about an hour and a half from my house. I dont go home too often, and when I do its difficult to find time to fly. I'm a sophomore majoring in Aerospace Engineering (oh, the work load! [:'(]). I have a GP .40 Cub and a GWS Spit flying. I recently crashed my Tribute due to wrong model selected on the Tx [:@], so I'm in the process of building another. I also have a Stunt Wagon kit about 90% finished that I hope to finish this Spring Break. After that is a Super Kraft T-34 that requires my attention to be modded into a much "scaler" model. After that, its either a Skyshark Tempest, or the TF Fw-190 D9, which will probably go first considering I already have it and the retracts and engine (Enya 1.20 4S) for it. After that, who knows! Hopefully getting into warbird gassers and just bigger planes in general, etc. (Lately, I've also had an itching for a 25% aerobat, maybe an Extra or Cap....
)
Ok, enough thread hi-jacking, back to the SSE.

Skip the 25% and go straight to the H9 46% Ultimate
. Man that thing is awesome!! It should be plenty to get you through you mid-life crisis. If it isnt then nothing we can do will help. You will just have to leave collage and go somewhere where engines and servos grow on vines, and every kit you could ever want grew already laser cut on balsa and plywood trees. And where springs of glow fuel are multiple!!
Yeah right!!!!! Oh well.....We can dream. Also I'm almost done with my term paper!!

car
gas
food
rent/motgage
various insurance packages
and the all time killer---- g/f or wife
BTW - Plywood tree? haven't seen one of those. There is a balsa tree though. It's on the end of our runway and we keep feeding it our airplanes.

Plywood tree...I havent seen one recently or ever either. You're a little old to realize that I was joking.
Man, some people have no sense of humor!!
Anyway
who needs it!!!
But my field too, has a balsa tree. It however, is to the right of the runway rather than the end.

Hey every one I started building today!! The first pic is the left wing after about an hour. The second pic is my workstation. The third pic is the right wing after maybe a minute. Will post more pics after getting more work done on wings. You can see wood glue in the first pic but Im using CA, on the wings at least.

Looks like you cut up your plans. It's better to get it copied at Kinkos or similar (make sure they don't distort the copy). That way you preserve the plans for later uses such as repair/replacement parts. Secondly, as a decrepit old man, I prefer a work bench I can sit at and work for extended times. Being young, you won't need that as much. Looks like you have a good work surface and are making good progress. Suggestion-a small fan to blow CA fumes away from your face so they won't irritate nose, eyes and lungs. You may not feel the effects now but may in the future

I spent about an hour and a half putting on the trailing edge, leading edge, vertical web shearing, and top spar. I see what you mean bruce with the CA, I was glueing the top spar in and the my eyes started to sting from all the CA. I will be sure to get a fan tomorrow.

Can't be 100% from just the pictures but you appear to be doing very well on the build. Remember to take it easy and think through every step carefully. Faster to take your time than to need to go back and undo a mistake, usually cheaper too.
BTW fan doesn't need to create a hurricane either, just a gentile breeze. If too strong at lowest setting, move it further away or find a way for it to draw/suck air away instead of blowing it.

Hey everyone I sheeted the top center LE and TE and still need to sheet the whole bottom. My finish deadline for the airframe (just wooden part not covered, engine, paint, servo's) is April 6th. So I think I can be done by then.
