Hi All,Have been thinking about getting into r/c planes and was going to get a kit and build it myself so I'd know how to fix it when and if I crashed.I found a guy whose selling a Sig Kadet Senior for$175.00 complete. It has .40 OS engine,Futaba 4 channel radio, new starter, new glow ignitor, extra glow plugs and fuel.He said all I need is a field box and an instructor, which I should be able to find at a club.It was originally made from a kit by a previous owner. Would this be a good plane for a beginner?I'm into r/c gas boats but would like to expand into other types of r/c.At least with it being already built I wouldn't have to wait all summer to build one and I could build the next one. The Kadet Senior is an excellent trainer.
I have one with a Magnum .91 4-stroke in it. Which .40 OS engine does it have? You ar looking at 210$ for the ARF new and around 80$ for the engine new (depending on which one) 50$ for servos and another 50-80 for the RX. (new, that is).
If it comes with a 4-6 channel computer radio, grab it!! (heck, it's a good deal either way as long as it's in good condition).

It seams like a great deal the only down side to the kit version of the Sig Senior is no ailorons Bud this is a semi easy fix I have A senior and 3 lt-40s they fly great and after you learn to fly well adjust the control throws up and the preform basic aerobatics reasonably well

I learned on the Senior w/o ailerons. If it's set up right on the transmitter it feels no different than a 4 channel plane. Just make sure rudder is on the right and nose gear is on the left. The only disadvantage to it is it's very limited as far as aerobatics. But if you can't fly this plane well, you can't fly anything!

Picked up the Sig Kadet Senior yesterday.Had to go back home and get the 78 Chevy van to transport it,as it wouldn't fit in the car.Cleaned it off and saw a bubble and a couple of wrinkles in the covering . Talked to the original owner /builder and he said he could try to get them out.The radio is an older but updated Futaba Conquest FM 4 channel. The engine is a OS.40 Max FP.OS still has parts for it.Also included were a Hanger 9 Pro starter,2 glow starters,Quart of fuel, power panel and Six Shooter fuel pump. It's in desent shape for a 12 year old plane. Have to do a few things ,then learn to fly it at a local club field.Hope I like flying.
