What size O-Ring would you recommend for a prop saver? My rubber band broke and I realized I don't have a replacement. Or, what kind of rubber bands?
Should these break often? I tried a couple of the rubberbands that came with my SS and those sheared off after about 5 seconds. Maybe I didn't have them tight enough.. *shrug*

Check out the little rubber bands sold for women's ponytails. I got a bag at Wal*Mart in the Hair section. probably want to use more than 1.

Sarge, it's a peice you put between the motor and prop which is supposed to help save the prop if you crash. It's helped me a few times but I'm still breaking some..
Guess it depends on how hard you hit..

Well, I've been in this hobby for 10 years and I've never heard of anything like this. I've got a feeling that somebody is just playing around here on the threads having some fun. Unless somebody can show me that these actually exist I'm going to shut down this thread.

No joke Ken. Here's an example: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJEW0&P=V
They're supposed to help by letting the prop bend away if you nose dive.

The obvious solution is to keep the plane from crashing. I have used one of these on a foamie, but I just don't bother anymore. Just cut the throttle before the nose touches-down and your prop will last forever, even with no LG, like mine.
I fly Charger CR-1's (without landing gear) every single day and the only time I ding a prop is if I forget to cut throttle completely on landing....UM....or fall out of a low hover AND forget to cut throttle...OR.....just plain nose it in (in that case a 'prop saver' won't help anyway).
But really those 'prop-savers' are more trouble that they are worth IMHO. Just keep the prop from hitting ground and you'll be fine.
Have Fun!!

Here are the recommended o-rings

A little pricey but i'm guessing they last a while if not lost. Take one to the local auto part store and buy replacements?
