Default radio help

I am putting together my first airplane. The plane is an electric easystar with a futaba 6XA radio. Channel three is for the throttle, channel two is for the elevator. I am able to plug these in without a problem. Channel four is used for the rudder. No go. It will work if I plug it into channel one which is for the aileron servo. Nothing happens when plugged into the correct channel. There are a bunch of functions on the radio. I pushed reset and still cannot use the rudder. Any suggestions?

Well I am no expert but I also have a new futaba 6EXAP radio and I know that works fine, I would suggest that it is a defect with either the transmitter or the receiver. To test this see if you can get another tx/rx on the same channel and see if they can move ch 3. Otherwise simply take back to your LHS if you got it from there or contact tech support on the website where you got it.

tekajo,

Plug all the servo's into ch 1 through 4 and move the sticks to see if all are working or not. If not, there is a problem with either the TX or RX. Take it back and get another one. If it does work, are you wanting to use the rudder with the aileron stick since this is a 3 channel plane? If so, then plug the rudder servo into the aileron servo (ch 1). When flying 3 channel you want to hook the rudder up to the aileron control so you can use the right stick for pitch and roll control.

Later when you move to a plane with ailerons, you hook the ailerons to ch 1 and rudder to ch 4. But for the Easy Star use the aileron ch 1 for your rudder.

I guess I am not that smart. Moving the rudder to channel one solved the problem. Thanks

while it might work for the short term, you still may want to check that all channels are working. better now than when the warrany runs out.

I think he was plugging the rudder into the rudder channel and using the aileron stick. If that is not right, then I agree, he needs to get either the tx or rx replaced under warranty.
