Default music wire dimensions

Hello !

In a plan of a glider i intend to build , the designer suggest the use of 16g music wire , 10g brass tube and 16g brass tube.
Since i am used to the metric scale ,at what size are they corresponding , ( in inches ) 16g and 10g ?
I will change them to the metrica scale then....
Thanks a lot !!
Best regards

AA

P.S : I know that i should measure directly on the plans with a meter , but unfortunally on one part i read a measure , and on another part of the same piece , i measure another......[]

10g and 16g is guage of wire, same way electrical wire is measured, that is the diameter of the wire not the length.
That said here is a chart with inches and metric measurements

Electrical wire gages and metal gages are different standards. Most likely the gages he is referring to is SAE (society of automotive engineers) standards.

Steel, brass, etc. can be gaged in American wire or Brown & Sharp gage, Steel Wire gage, British Standard gage, Music or Piano Wire gage, Birmingham or Stub's iron gage and finally Stub's wire gage. Confusing, right? Well don't worry. It's probably in Steel Wire gage which equates to the following dimensions: Outside diamenter

16 gage= 0.0625 inches or 1/16 inch or 1.5875 mm

10 gage= 0.134 inches or 3.40 mm

Hope that helps

Let's confuse you even more, or at least give you more options to choose from.

The plan is the scale glider ASW 19 & 20 by Mike Trew ( RC Model World , plan MW2203 ).

Thank You very much !!
I will look for 1,5 and 3,5 mm diameters.

Best regards

is the plan a british origin as they use that measurement on their plans quite often, especially brian taylor and dennis byrant,I asked this question and got the same replies which were ok if they were for us standards but not the same for english units,I ended up using wire that I have used in the location intended that I knew would work ie 5/32 for landing gear etc.
