The Spektrum DX7 has just hit Australia .... Can anyone tell me if it can be buddy boxed and if so on what ???? I have read threads saying it can and it can't but they were a few months old and was wondering if there was a definitive answer. Please help.

G'day Mate,
Model Flight in Adelaide is the importer, here is the place to download the DX7 manual.
Yes it has trainer feature, same as most JR computer radio's. In fact it has just about the same programming method as the JR X378, 2610, & so on, very easy to program, I'm lookin very seriously at getting one myself.

Hey Allan. I have a new DX7 and maidened both the radio and my Tiger 120 on Saturday. Both performed very well. The DX7 felt great in my hands and had a great feel while flying. Very sensitive and precise. You will enjoy it.
The manual definitely states that it is Buddy-Box capable.

Hi Allan & CG,
Thanks for that info ... I read the Dx7 manual today and yes it states that it can be used and linked to another transmitter. It just doesn't state which brands etc it is compatible with in the manual.
I hope it goes ok with JR as you said because I've booked a few lessons with an instructor for the week following Christmas and I ordered a Dx7 from Modelflight today !!!
Can't wait to get it ...... only thing is now I suppose I will have to decide on a plane and engine.
There are so many options and different opinions in this sport it's fairly daunting for a newbie like me to decide which way to go. Guess I'll just keep reading these forums and go from there.
All the best.
Troy

Hey Dick,
I think I will have to wait until after Christmas, to invest in my DX7, I'm sure I will invest, just may take a few weeks.
Glad to hear that all went well with your new plane, I have not had a fly for a few weeks now, due to bad weather on sundays. Hopefully this weekend.
Have a very Merry Christmas Dick, & all at RCUniverse.

Hi Allan. And of couse, I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Safe, and Prosperous New Year.
I've had several suggestions on weight management on the Tiger 120. A couple were interesting. One person suggested that I use a shock absorbing engine mount. They weigh a tad more than the standard mount and will help in removing some of that lead in the nose. Also, a chrome plated brass prop nut, shaped like a small spinner. 3 ounces there.. remove some lead. And, heaver wheels, another ounce or two of lead removed. All good suggestions. Not much I can do in the rear, though, all that I have there is light weight and absolutely necessary. It's just a poor balsa and ply selection by Goldberg models. And, of course, this plane has a very long fuselage so that weight moment is more pronounced... an ounce in the rear amounts to 10 in the nose.. sort of thing.
Anyway, when you do get the DX7, I believe you will enjoy it. It was a pleasure to use for the first time and get the feel of the operation of this quality radio. Yep, you will like it.
Have you, per chance, been following the thread with Bev and others talking about chartering a 777 for a trip from the US to down under to Bill's place? Funny thread. We are having a lot of fun swapping ideas on heading down. One poster suggested we borrow RCU's Corporate Yacht and head down under that-a-way. Ha.. great stuff.
Anyway, have a nive holiday and we will certainly be talking in the future, swapping ideas and flight experiences.

From: Laurel, MD,
fwiw, I tried hooking up a DX6 to some JR transmitters I have, and that didn't work. I have no idea about the DX7, so it's good to hear that has worked for at least one person.
