I mentioned in another thread that I had seen bubbles in my fuel lines before the engine cut off at 1/2 throttle. I took my tank out on a alpha trainer 40 with a evo .46 rtf. The tank has two brass fittings going thru the rubber cork. One fitting has a 3" tube with a clunk on the end, the other fitting is brass continuing at an angle towards the bottom of the tank about 1 3/4 inch long. The fuel line with clunk should go to carb and the other to exhaust, right?
It looks like I can fit some foam below the tank and possibly the sides. The tank presently sits on two balsa shelves, front and rear.
Any suggestions to help me figure this out.
Thanks for your patience.

Well one thing I see right off of the bat is that the tube on your vent side (the one that goes to the muffler) should point up towards the top of the fuel tank, not the bottom. You need to have the end of this tube as close to the top of the tank as possible. When you fill the tank you will only be able to fill it as full as the end of that vent tube, when the fuel level gets to that tube it will start blowing out the vent line. This is why you want it at the top of the tank, so the fuel overflows out the vent tube when the tank is full. See diagram.
Hope this helps

1. You will NOT get a full tank before the fuel begins to dump overboard thru the vent line.
2. The air from the muffler will be blowing bubbles into your fuel constantly and may be causing your problem. Lots of foaming fuel in the tank.

Hopefully I wasn't mistaken when seeing which way the vent was facing when I dissembled it. I'll put it back together and try it again. Should I go ahead and put some foam under the tank to try and cushion the vibration while I have the tank out. Thanks for your help, this bird will fly one day !

johntammi, YES , if possible give the fuel tank a matress of foam to sit on , also if possible fit foam to the sides of the tank as well, sometimes foam on top of the tank will also help the tank from moving in any direction. The fuel lines i nthe tank has been described well by the above gentlemen. Fix the tank and go flying and have fun.
