If you have at least 15 minute or preferably 30 minute epoxy that would be better. Better bond, strength, and longer time to apply before it starts to set on you.
#79

The epoxy will get a better "Bite" into the wood if you leave out the CA. Epoxy in place with epoxy on all mating surfaces and clamp. Let set til it sets up and then proceed. Not the time to be in a hurry unless you want to have your plane and engine flying as 2 separate pieces.[:@][:'(] Eventually you will be using the same epoxy to fule proof the firewall but that can wait until after covering. No, that's not in the instructions. Also a good idea to fuel proof the tank area or at least the bottom half of it. A little heat from your covering heat gun will make the epoxy runnier and it will spread easier for fuel proofing.

I will be fuel proffing as i get to place that need it. I was told to use alcohal and epoxy blind (i dont have a heat gun). I got 30 min. epoxy and am now waiting on it to dry.
#81

You will need just a few drops of alcohol (denatured is better than ispropol because it has less water in it) or you can end up with a gummy mess that will never dry.

Heat guns are not too expensive and very handy for covering.

Is it sad when I recognize half of the books on your plane from some of my previous college classes?
p.s. I hate that Cal book.... with a passion.. and I like Cal...

how would I go about fixing a bad wing set aginst the fues??? It look like something is off, I have to wait and get the other wing done then re-test fit, but right no there is about a ~1/8 inch gap at the TE when the LE is flush with the fues.

Is the gap at the TE? If so it may pull in when you draw the wings together with rubberbands, zipties or whatever. They should sit flush before hand though.Check the fit without the wing joiner tube installed.I had somewhat of the same problem. The wing joiner tube was slighty bent.

Got just about everything done and ready for covering. I have a few mistakes here and there but i think it will fly just find (might be a little heavy). Cant wait to get my new engine in and get the covering done and every thing set up so i can Mainden it.

If you have made mistakes they are probably minor and you have gained some building/repairing skills along the way. Your next build should go a lot smoother. One thing you may have learned is why we tell people to read the manual COMPLETELY 3 times before you take a piece of wood out of the box. Try to understand the complete build before starting the assembly. Knowing what comes later is almost like cheating and makes things a lot easier.

I thought it was supposed to take months to build a plane??? It looks good. You'll have fun with it. I noticed the foam U-can-do hanging in the background. How do you like it? I have the .46 size and I've thought about the foamie to fly in front of my house.

The U-Can-Do 3D is not mine. Here at State the RC Club has a few room to store/work on RC airplanes.
The mistakes are very miner (messed up cuts, stuff not fitting right the first time, buying new wood, ext.) nothing that I think will effect its flying. As to the comment about taking months, this kit went together very fast (a little to fast for my liking) but very straight. (Its not done I'm thinking ~1 week to cover and ~1 week to get every thing ells finished)

Sorry for no up dates. I've been realy buisy working on school work, then I went home for spring break and did not have a chance to work on it. I have been busting my but trying to get it finished for this weekend and have goten to where I need to mount the moter and balance it.....
.... Then I'm done!
Just placeing the engine on the mounts and having the battory and all servos in it, it is tail heavy. The battory is all the way to the frount, and the engine is sitting as far foward as I can get it and it's still tail heavy, is this normal? I did not use the tell bracing, and I'm using a O.S. .46 FX.

Great looking build! I really enjoyed building this kit. Thread here if you want some pics of another build.

Thanks for sharing the pics and build.

It's so forgiving, you could pee on its turtle deck and it would forgive you. Unless you put a cox .049 or a DA-50 on it, you should be just fine.

I ended up flying mine 1/2" behind the recomended CG and it seemed just fine. I would get it as close to spec as you can for the first few flights but definitely try moving it back later.

OK, so I finally flew it today. One week before my estimated completion date (next weekend, we have a fly in I wanted it ready for). I must say i was just a little disappointed in its abilities. It flew super smooth, hovered, smooth flat knife-edge flight, and smooth inverted flight, but snapped slowly. I started to move the CG back (had it set up as recommended, required the engine to be mounted all the way froward with the battery all the way forward) and it started to snap faster and hover easer. I stared the day with the battery all the way forward but it now sits will half of it under the servo tray. But dont get me wrong it's by far the best flying plane i have flown, it only required 4 clicks of aileron trim.
