I am... Converted it to a tail dragger too...Am about ready to cover the rest of the fuse as soon as I feel a "warm and fuzzy" about my pull-pull system for the rear wheel.

I have one ready to go in the air. Made the choice as a trainer for the club after having a student with one last season.
I have made the following changes to an already great plane:
1. Fiberglassed the center section of the wing for better strength. Added red stripe so it's easy to see the wing is centered.
2. Added traingular stock to the joint from the fuselage to the stab and from the stab to the fin (this is the weakest part of this plane).
3. Changed the main gear to DuBro composite with DuBro axles.
4. Changed the nose gear to the Fults double fork.
5. Will be adding fiberglass floats when the pond melts!
6. Added graphics to the bottom of the wing (all white can be hard to see sometimes).
7. I'm ready to fly if the weather breaks! Maybe over the weekend!

I'm almost finished with mine- installed radio gear and linkages tonight, and having a blast. What a well thought out kit. I'm used to building old Guillows/Comet, etc. dope and tissue kits, and this one just fell together. I pretty much built it stock, since this is my first foray into R/C. I did round off the tail feathers, and I added some solid block into the wing before covering/sheeting so I can eventually convert to a bolt on.
Are you building one yourself?

I just finished sloting and fitting the ailerons. Time to start on the firewall and the Fus. I am sticking close to the directions. So far the only deviation was some epoxy on the center wing joint.

the LT40 to a taildragger. I've been considering this for some time
but haven't figured out how to install the tailwheel/rudder combo.
I'm not familiar with the pull pull system. Thanks for your help.

I kept mine stock except for using 2 nylon bolts to hold the wing down. It's my fun day flying plane when I'm in the mood for something slower. The CG is set way back and with a modified OS .46 FX up front it really is a ball. Now says you can't have fun with a trained???

Building mine from a kit at the moment. It's my first plane, so I'm taking it slowly and following the instructions to the letter. I've managed to scrape together enough spare time so far to be at the point of cutting the hinge slots in the wing (time's a valuable commodity when you have two kids under three years old
)
Looking forward to learning how to fly it!

djse7en, Just a follow up to the question on my yellow LT-40, The engine is an OS-46LA, radio is Futaba Conquest as well as Futaba servos. Actually bought the radio and servos from another RCU member, Mirza, and was very pleased with what I got. As for the wing, well, I'm still working on it. Trying to come up with a good color pattern to follow the rest of the look. Will submit finished pic hopefully this weekend. It's been fum building the LT-40. And for persons doing the SIG easy hinge I would say that the purchase of a slot cutter is well worth the few bucks spent. Makes the job much easier. Jerry

Hi CrashNGo (and everyone else),
Quick question about cutting the hinge slots... I have purchased and used a set of slot-cutting blades and tools to cut the hinge slots for my LT-40 CA hinges. The slots have been cut completely square and clean, but trial fitting the hinges into them leaves me thinking that the tabs are a little loose.
My question is this; how loose is 'too loose' for these 'quick CA' style hinges, and should I consider upgrading to a set of pin hinges instead?
Thanks for any help,
Neil Vickers.

I am building my first kit, an LT-40, at this time. The wing is ready for final sanding. The fuse is ready for the control rod tubes. I have added two dowels to the front of the wing and will hold it on with two nylon bolts. I also added a solid piece of 1/4" ply to mount a composite Dubro landing gear to. I have modified the wing for two aileron servos so I can play with flaps one day. While building, a friend at work is training me on his LT-40 so I have been able to take my time. The kit went together so quick that I have saved the tail feathers just so I wouldn't run out of something to build. My friends plane with a TT Pro 46 w/11 x 5 prop will hover and he has a 14oz fuel tank and two 1800 MA battery packs with a battery backer installed. His plane is also modified as above. His plane is really heavy with the mods. I'm afraid mine will be a real floater in stock condition.

Oh
And he is making me put 1/4 scale Radio South hinges
instead of the Sig Easy hinges that came with the kit. He has been so much help that I will not argue with him.

Hey Art, Nice lookin' LT-40.
I'm going to scratch one out for this summer as a "Peterson 260 Kadet Conversion" see http://www.260se.com/ I'll stick build the fuselage ala the kadet senior, and add a canard to the nose. It's going to be a glider hauler/camera platform/parachute jumper and all around fun flyer and I am planning an OS FS 90 for the powerplant.

Hey WYDAH
Those are the same colors I am leaning toward for mine. Does that small checherboard pattern show up good at a distance? I was going with large stripes but I like yours too.
Thanks
Mike

One other item of weakness I experienced was with the clear plastic control lines. The metal
ends 'pulled' thru after some time and fortunately
I saw the problem before the catastrohpe. I
replaced them both with Sullivan Yellow; Problem

I notice here, and in several other discussions, that there may be a structural integrity problem at the stablizer, fuselage interface. I am currently building an LT-40 and am just about to start covering.
How critical is reinforcing that interface? Is triangle stock the best choice, or is there another preferred method?

you can put triangle stock there,I have been flying mine without it and so far it has not been a problem. If you haven't covered yet now would be the time to do it.
