I was planning to buy a hitec rx to use with my 6 ch FM JR radio but my hobby shop guy almost wouldn't let me buy it. He said that with JR especially, you should only use a JR rx. He said that there would probably be lots of glitching and stuff. I have a Hitec rx with the same radio and its working great, I don't see how there would be a problem. I am wanting to buy an electron 6 that is on the JR shift to go with my JR XF631.
What do you guys think, is the LHS right?

The Hitec should work fine although I do usually try to stick with the original mfg for my own equipment. It's just a personal thing for me.

I've done both ways with no trouble, and sold them both ways with out a issue. I stock JR because I sell more JR. Ask me and I'll try and sell you a JR because that is what i have. Still want Hitec and I'll order it. Since 2.4 has come out my 72 sales have gone way down. Most every body here is moving over and i'll probility stop stocking 72 with-in the next couple of years. My guess is his profit margin is higher on the JR stuff than Hitec. I use the Electron 6 receivers with Futaba. Absolutely no glitches.

I use HiTec receivers with my JR8103 and JR6102. They're excellent. I also used Futaba shift ones with my Futaba TX, but sold that when I got the HiTec Optic6, which had more options than the Futaba.

HiTec is one of the best kept secrets for value in our hobby.

For example the HS225 micro servo. They have a couple of receivers that are real good and real cheap.

The Electron 6 is a particularly robust and I beleve a superior performer than some JR products especially when compared to the single conversion ABC&W units.

There is absolutely no reason not to use it with your JR Tx if you so choose as long as you order the positive shift version of the Electron and you only use a Hitec dual conversion crystal in the Rx.

Remember LHS's will always want to sell you what they have first and what allows the most profit margin. This does not make them evil its called survival.

Thanks for the input guys. I just dont want to spend twice the money to get a JR rx. Just so you know, this is for a Stryker, so a JR and Hitec combo must at least be better than the stock parkzone equipment. I have always had good luck with hitec, and I am still planning to buy a hitec rx

I agree, but the funny thing is that my LHS only had the electron 6. So I guess the LHS guy truly believed that this rx would not work with JR. The one that was in stock was even in the correct shift for JR.

Well, now you know that your LHS guy doesn't know beans about radios. Too bad, he should know better.

I had my plane crashed which was P51 Mustang PTS of Hangar 9 due to Rx failure, Rx was JR R700 slimline which came with the combo and Tx is still Im using JR XF421 EX after that I used Hitec's Electron 6 Rx, never had any problem with that, and I'd also prefer Rx of Hitec. I'm also using Hitec's HS311 servos, never had any problems with that. Hitec is comparatively cheaper in price than JR but performance wise its really great. Never had problem with it.

Almost everybody who works at both of the local hobby shops in my town are RC car guys. Most of their RC flying "knowledge" is based off of second-hand superstitions. I use Hitec receivers in my planes right along side with Futabas, I've never had a problem with Hitec on negative shift, and I wouldn't hesitate to try them with Airtronics or JR transmitters, either.

Well this is good to hear. I will get a hitec rx ordered asap, and not from the LHS.

I just put a Hitec Electron 6 in my Stryker and I have a Futaba 6ex TX and I have had absolutely no problems with it at all. Been out on the field with as many a 6 planes up and I have never had a problem.

LT-40 mine works great in my Stryker. I also use a Pheonix 45 ESC and Heli Max 2580 motor with a 3 cell Thunder Power. All works great. My TX is a Futaba 6ex

Sounds like a sweet setup lide. Mine has a phoenix 80 and a mega 16/25/2 brushless motor. I cant wait to fly it!

Sounds nice. You definitely have overkill on the ESC but that is ok. Now you won't need to get a BEC to make it go faster I also have HS-81 servos only thing stock on my stryker is the pushrods and the frame itself. lol...have a blast. I am having fun with mine. I forgot I put a BEC on mine.

A guy at the airfield has a radar gun and I got my stryker up to 95 mph. It scoots. As a matter of fact the guy that helped me set my Stryker up is getting ready to have an article published in Model Airplane News. His first name is Mike. I can't remember his last name. Heck it impressive alone that I even remembered his first name. Anyway, this guy has articles in Model Airplane News pretty frequently. He is on the Electric side of RCing. Soooo keep an out. The article is going to be on how to upgrade your Stryke. He was given a bunch of strykers and different ESCs, Motor and so on

Also not sure what type of prop you are using but if you are fairly new to the electric side and someone at your airfield is a electric junky and they have the equipment to test the amps being pulled let them check it out. I had the stock prop on the mine and he took it off after testing it and put a 6 X 4 apc sport gas prop on mine. (put on backwards). It made a ton of difference. Just a tip.
