Whats the best way to get wing warp out of a wing. I know I have to use the cover heat gun but should I use 2 people or just place the wing between my legs? I've heard of both but wanted to know which was better?

Whatever works best for you. If you can manage doing it yourself by holding it in your knees there is no reason why you shouldn't do that. But that can be a bit much for most people. A lot of people find it easier to do with two people, giving you an extra pair of hands to work the wing. Either way is fine, whatever you find easier.

Its far easier to do with two people. Also its neccesssary to let the covering cool a bit before the induced twist is relaxed.

Normally I will have one wing half flat on a table and weighted with sand bags the other panel extended off the edge of the table. The helper will induce the reverse twist at the extended tip from a comfortable sitting position by hand until the the covering shows diagonal and paralell wrinkles near the wing tips.

You then use the iron or heat gun to remove the wrinkles untill smooth just as if you were covering. I find the heat gun more easy to control than an iron. The helper must continue to hold the twist untill the the surface cools a bit after the wrinkles are removed before relaxing.

Now invert the wing and repeat the process on the bottom surface. It may be neccessary to do this several times to get it right. Another important point is normally it is better to have a little wash out on both wings (trailing edge up a bit when flat on a table near the wing tips) than the other way around so in most cases its better to induce wash out rather than wash in on which ever wing would have the desired trim change.

Its not likely that you will break anything unless you get very heavy handed. But do keep the heat gun moving to avoid burning holes. This technique is really rather easy to do and effective on most open bay wings but ya just need a little help.[8D]

I've used the sofa in my house. Better than bothering somebody to hold the sucker and better than trying to hold it with my legs.

Pull a cushion and use that to hold the wing by the half you're not working on. Cushion is heavy enough and the sofa doesn't wiggle and talk about other stuff or ask you for money.

It should be noted that no one mentioned to twist and then just heat gun the first few sections of the wing. I was doing the whole wing panel half and wasnt getting anywhere.

When I switched to just the end of the wing panel it corrected realy fast.

rubber band the wing on the fuse. the twist you give it will either push the nose down, or it will push the tail down. If the nose is being pushed down then all is good, I don't think you can push it through the table. If the tail goes down allow it to rest on the table and then give the required amount of twist with one hand and the heat gun in the other.
