Default RE: Prop installation question!

I use the electric starter for the first time starting the engine on a flying day, only on my OS 1.20 AX engines. I am somewhat afraid of that prop.. even if I use a chicken stick.. I just use the electric starter once, start it to get it warmed up, then after that, I tap (whack) (is that a real word?) the prop backwards against the compression and it starts right up in the forward direction.

Another way of using an electric starter wrong.
Get the starter spinning in the air and then jam it onto the spinner.
A guy at my club does this and I cringe every time [:@]

I installed the prop the way da-rock said...Da rock rocks! This is the only way it will come thru the 2 holes in spinner and thus doesnt touch the stubs at all...

Any ways I have a 10x6 [or 7?] Prop for that.Since its a OS46FX, some one at the field suggested a better one (11x6) plastic master airscrew prop since the current one makes engine too loud. He said a 11x6 would be smooth and good for the engine life and rpm....

What do you guys suggest? 11x6?

Thanks Ken, I am doing it "right", I noticed that sometimes when I hand start my engine it runs backwards, what am I doing wrong, or does it jsut do that?
Jon
Sometimes engines do this when you hand start them... from idle, give the engine a blip of throttle. Sometimes they will bounce against the compression and right themselves.

If it starts backwards when you're handstarting, it's because that last flip wasn't hard enough.
