Looking for a few cheap micro park flyers (borderline indoor airplanes and/or helicopters) that I can take camping with the family this labor day weekend. Something relatively durable that doesn't need a ton of field equipment and that an adult w/ no rc experience could pick up pretty quickly...
Any help? I need to order or find these soon.

How much do you want to spend?
How much do you want to spend?
Oh probably 30-50 each..the less the better...but I realize there's probably a price point in there somewhere where the quality goes up considerably...so I'm flexible..

Nothing in that price range will be able to handle any wind at all and still be controllable by a beginner, in the air that is.
Air Hogs as mentioned is ok but only on calm days.
Electric buggies are fun, easy to operate and wind doesn't matter.(around $50 at Walmart or even Radio Shack)
No matter what you get in your price range don't expect it to last a long time.

As far as i understand you want somethin two channal and not hobby grade.. I would say do to your local walmart and get an airhog series. They have a bipe, jet, couple other ones.. Vist the Indoor micro rc airplane section in the electric plane section. They have a huge thread about them. As far as i know they are 20-30$.. What part of houston are you in?

Oh definitely not hobby grade - more toy grade...they'll be wrecked numerous times I imagine...and I don't want to have to carry a ton of extra field equipment with me. Looks like I'll be making a trip to Walmart this evening..
Northwest Houston - 290 & Barker if you know the area.
Thanks for the pointers

The Air Hogs Aero Aces are probably what you want, and maybe even the Havoc Heli. They are all around $30 each, and they charge right from the transmitter, so all you need are spare AA batteries.
I loved my Aero Ace Biplane right up until I flew it too high and the wind carried it down the road, never to be found again. I got two Havoc Heli's on sale this year for $19.95 each at Toys R Us, and the kids were able to control them pretty well. They don't do well in bright sun, because of the IR remote control, but indoors, or in shade with no wind, they are a blast. They need a thumbtack in the nose to really be able to steer them. I accidently ripped the tail motor off one of them when it got hair tangled in it, but the other still flies great.
Enjoy your camping trip!

Yes that is true if you keep the plane in one piece with a limited number of crashes.

Sounds like the aero hog's are the way to go - I'll go pick up an aero ace(?) and a helicopter at the local toys r us this evening and give them both some test flights..
