I assume you are flipping the prop with a stick. If so, then that happens with glow engines. If you use an electric starter, this will not happen. My large glow engine (Moki / Mark 210) I always flip backwards and 99% of the time it then starts running forward.

What fuel are you using? How much nitro? Is it FAI fuel? What glow plug are you using? Is it the reccomended one from the manufacturer or a aftermarket that is hotter?
Too little nitro can cause early ignition, so can a plug that is too hot or has too much current. Then it fires early and the compression stroke reaches a peak well before top dead center and it starts running backwards.

some times if you just drop and raise the throttle quickly it will flip and run forward I almost always use a elec.starter but when I have fliped the prop and the engine started in reverse the throttle trick works most of the time,as well as back fliping the prop to start forward like DMcQuinn pointed out

Bruce is correct. Change your method of priming so you get less fuel in before trying to start it. Keep doing this until it starts the correct way each time. Most likely you'll find it needs a different prime hot or cold, hot may not even need a prime. It's a matter of getting to know what the engine likes.

thank you guys very much. thats what i love about this site and this hobby. if i have a question it is awnsered for every senario. i will try this things. i do use a chicken stick that i made because when i use the starter it digs grooves in to my spinner and slipps off so i figure man power will do. but once it has flown it dosent reverse i guess im putting to much prime. im useing a #8 glow plug that my LHS guy said to use and that that was the one installed on the motor. thanks again guys you are the best...

Are you starting if from the left side of the plane or the right?
Bob. an electric starter can prevent it but like bruce said, over primed. There is a bit of a trick that sometimes works and thatis to make an attempt to shut it off and just as its about to quit, turn it back on and it may jump it the other way,
