Very nice!!! The only thing that is more satifying than your first build, is the first flight of your pride and joy. I still have my first build and it still strike a chord of pride when it flys. Your covering job looks good too. I would like to add a thought here about colors. First of all, I DO like the way your plane looks! Your plane may be dark enough that it wont "blend into" the blue sky, and I dont't know if you have a different color under wing. If the wing bottom is the same color.... I would suggest that you might want to put some wide yellow stripes on the bottom of the wing. (or a substanial amount of yellow of some pattern). This comes from experience.
My first flight of 2002 was my Hanger 9 Cessna 40 ARF. The color was white with red and black line trim colors the SAME all over the plane. It got out a little far, and I could not tell top from bottom. The flight ended less than a minute after rotation.
It buried itself to the front wing dowels in the soft, IN farmland. I just could not "SEE" the plane.
I had my first build ready for flight...... but it got stipes on the bottom of the wing before I attempted a maiden flight.
Stipes should be fairly easy to apply to a flat bottom wing. I won't go into the "Windex method" here.... but that is my suggestion for application. Do a search, or email me for help on this method if you decide to do it.... good luck on your maiden flight.......lownslo...

Yeah!! Your plane looks great!! Very satisfying isn't it? I agree with putting some stripes on the wing though. I had mine covered very similar to yours and it was hard to see. I added a 1/2" white stripe to the leading edge and the wing tips and what a difference. No problems seeing it now.

An Afterthought, if you do go with a contrasting color scheme or stripes on the bottom of the wing, be sure they are wide enough to be visible.
We did some thinking about this in our club one day and decided that if the stripes are 3 inches wide or more, they will be visible from the ground. The same goes for a checkerboard pattern - make the squares real big.
You can confirm this by cutting a piece of cardboard the same size as your wing. Then tape some colored parer to it in the pattern you want. Prop it up and step back 400 or 500 feet and see how visible it is.
Take care,

Good job Mike! I not only got the "flying" bug last year, but also got the "building" bug as well after finishing my first kit. (I'm currently working on kit #6.) Gonna have to sell something pretty soon or maybe add more room to my workshop...
Happy flying! (and building!)

Great job Mike.........ya did better then I did on mine. But I was in a hurry to get a trainer together and wasnt to concerned about cosmetics. I did however take some time and care in covering the Tiger. I kept it simple but much nicer cover job this time. I only hope the Dazzler turns out even better.
