Default fuel fill - t fitting

Do I place the T for fuel fill on the carb line or the exhaust line on a side mounted saito? Im thinking on the carb line with the carb closed during filling.

The Carb line is the right one.

Yeah, the carb line. If you fuel thorugh the vent, you won't get any fuel in the tank.

Alternatively, you could go with a 3 line tank setup and use a fuel dot to terminate the fill line in the cowl.

T fitting on a glow engine does not work too well, as the fill will seriously flood the engine. It is used successfully on gas engine set ups because the gas carburator does not freely pass through the fuel as the glow carb does. If you use a two line set up, it's best to fill and defuel by removing the line from the carb nipple. If this is not feasable, then go to a three line system.

It works quite well for me. The trick is to remember to close the throttle before refuelling. Then only a very small amount of fuel will pass through the needle valve assembly.

I just put a fuel filter on the fuel line going from the fuel tank to the needle valve. I pull the fuel line on the tank side of the filter to fill the tank, and then put it back on the filter when I'm done. I do the same to empty out the tank. I have this setup on almost all of my planes and helis, and it's worked flawlessly. Quick and simple.

I'm installing one of these in the plane I'm currently building:

It's similar to a fuel dot, but there's a valve inside it that blocks off the line to the carb while filling.

These from Airborne-models do work very well. They will work with standard 2 line setups on cowled engines.

They also permit you to perform pinch tests with the cowls in place.

Nice for checking your tuning as the weather changes.
