Any one ever fly at night with gloewsticks.

I used to do that a lot. But have since gone to LEDs, and other lights.
LT-40 with glow sticks
Zagi with "rc neon"
I have found one danger with night flying though. We managed to have a mid air with a bat this last summer.

RE: Any one ever fly at night with gloewsticks.
I've flown at night using glowsticks several times. I had two red (top & bottom) on the left wing, two green on the right wing, and two white on the vertical stab. I found that the more ambient light (flashlights, lanterns, car headlights, etc.) the harder it is to fly. We ended up with only a car's headlights lighting up the runway. Everything from about 15' up was dark. Lots of fun!

We fly a bunch of them here using LEDs. We have used glow sticks in the past but LEDs and glo wire are less trouble and provide more lighting combinations.
Here is one that a friend of mine flys on a regular basis.

Thanks, it has a rotary switch inside so I can turn sections of the lights on and off.
As to the collision with a bat... It hit right on one of the interplane struts causing the top wing to blow back. It was still attached
but was at about a 45 degree angle. It almost made it back to the field.
Glad it was a foamie, a couple minutes worth of cutting and it's all set to go!

I definately am wanting to put glowire on my trainer. I think I'll wait till it gets more beat up and I've got other planes first, so if I do crash it night flying I won't flip out. But glowire would be my choice. It looks really great and you can outline the whole plane with it.

I got mine from vrad It looks like they don't sell the same product anymore though.

However Tower carries the same stuff now.

It's very easy to use, just attach with some clear tape!

I think it's www.glowire.com
It's probably all over though.
I go to an artfestival every year where thousands of people use glowire to decorate themselves and their vehicles. The stuff just looks really neat. And the batteries for it are super light.

Glowire requires two double A alkalines and are used in a transformer case. Small and light. In the four engine airplane shown flying above there are actually two strings and power supplies of Glowire runing internally and those areas of the airplane are covered in clear yellow mono coat. Notice they are virtually invisable and in this installation were a complete failure used in this way so that airplane is dependant upon the incandescents on the three corners.
My newest night flyer now has internal Led string that are far more effective. Used externally along wing edges etc and on small electrics that are flown close in the glowire would be fine but not for larger glow powered night flyers expecially in used internally with cleartint film covering.
Here is a picture of my newest with internal led strings in addition to the incandescent orientation lights. Is only just started flying with no night flights yet.
