Hey, I’m not sure why I didn’t get many responses for my last thread but I will try some more.
OK so I recently got an O.S. .46 FX
so should I put that engine in my old wrecked trainer (fly till the wings fall off) or wait a month to put in my new non-wrecked avistar (brand new ARF)?
Also I haven’t got to fly in a while [:'(]. So I’m landing have been sad since last time I flied. My old avistar can’t take another rebuild and it is getting scary to fly. So should I get back on the buddy box until I’m back or just have my instructor stand their?
And like I said I haven’t gotten to fly in a while, but my all year hockey season is ending so my weekends should clear up. Well there is still one problem about that. As most of you have found out, our economy isn’t to strong anymore (no pun intended) and my father has gotten the worst of it. He is in the real-estate and hasn’t had a good sale in about 2 and a half months. Also his main employer went bankrupt so the homes aren’t coming in anymore. He also hasn’t felt the joy of flying and doesn’t enjoy watching anymore and getting to the field is getting harder and harder. I know none of you will lend money to get me to my field but what will I do?
Thank you for all your replies

Whats wrong with the engine you already have in your old trainer?I would wait myself.
The economy thing? Can't help you there. It is effecting alot of us. I have been laid off since the beginning of December so I can't afford to go to the field often. The only thing I can really do is plan on spending the day at the field when I do go.

I believe you are refering to the head.
Hard call. If you put it in your old plane you will be taking it right back out for your new plane BUT on the other hand that does give you a chance to run the engine in a bit.

If you need a job, come to Philly and become a cop. They're all getting killed. They take anyone who isn't a complete moron. Well, questionable . . .. I hate cops, but I might become one. I need to make a living, and it's about the only way I can until I go to grad school. They start at 40. Not bad.

Well I’m not for dieing at the age of 12 but...
I think a waiter or something along those lines would be better for getting money for grad school.

Everybody loves the OS 46FX, which I guess has now become the 46AX because of a few small modifications. If someone says they don't love it, it's because they have a hard time being honest with themselves.
Missleman, I wish you the best of luck with your employment situation.

Why spend $99 on an Avistar? $49-59 trainers are online all the time, and right now you can get a March sale just about anywhere so inventory is down for the count. As far as a PA cop/target, is $40k worth a life? Sell your stuff online, I do. You could get $70-85 for your FX and get a decent used Chinese engine that's satisfactory, a used GMS .47 sells cheap, $25 or so. There's your trainer money. LA could be a parts engine for someone...flying in a rough plane isn't the best idea, but I'd squeeze whatever life is left in the LA first before blowing the plane apart from the FX power.
rcgroups has a forum just for sale ads, check it out, saves a lot of searching on your own. You can always get a Tower trainer ARF, flies well, search online for the free shipping coupon with $50 order.

Maybe the next time you are in trouble and need help, try calling a criminal.

Uh, yeah, I mispoke. I apologize. Philly cops are, in some cases, difficult to deal with, that's all. And back home, when I was younger, I've had cops lie in front of the magistrate to make my ticket stick. In one instance, a cop said that I went through a stop sign when in fact no stop sign existed at all! But there are always jerks in every profession. In any event, I'll do whatever it is I have to do to bring home a paycheck. Otherwise, what is one to do? Move home with his mother for a year!??!

How far are you from your airfield? You might be able to come up with a wagon of some sort to which you could strap your plane and gear, then hook it to your bike and go! This may sound a little nuts, but when I first started in RC I had a boat, and no place to run at home. So I would charge the batteries I had(only one or two packs, usually) and stuff the boat TX and packs into a backpack and ride the 6 miles one way to the lake. Run the packs dead, pack it back up and head home. Recharge and do it again. I think I managed to get 3 trips in in one day once or twice. Could just be a matter of how desperate you are.

Those were the days...I did similar things to enjoy my Saturday, but today, it's rare to see kids go further than the driveway. Anyone want a xbox, heavily used, for a 4 stroke engine? Sorry kids, Dad's turn to play!

Well I don’t think 18.3 miles is enough to walk[:-]! I get weird looks walking across an intersection I couldn’t imagine walking that far

seemefly,
I have the OS .46 ax and it is a fantastic engine.
I had the same question as you, put it in the old plane or wait for the new one and I think you should stick it in your old trainer and literally fly the wings off it. The chances of damaging that engine are small and when your new plane is built you can easily move it over. The engine should be nicely run in by then
Do a few flights on a buddy box if it will make you feel better but flying is like riding a bicycle, at least for me, it comes back quickly. Just do a few gentle circuits and touch and goes until you feel comfortable again.
