The spektrums will lock you out if the power is too low, I had that happen to my mustang, but I was rather less lucky, I left a 30ft or so trail of debris in fresno, one side of the wing was gone, wing servo tray was the biggest piece. Has to of been the most spectacular crash site I have ever seen. Shame about the plane I had that thing looking nice with a custom covering job.

To the new guys, I push these planes hard, in 2 years flying I have lost 2 planes, I have also rebuilt alot, now I race which will get through planes at a high rate, but almost every time I crash was a problem pre flight or post crash inspection would have caught. If you are careful then losing a plane should be a rare thing.

Keep them in the air.

For me the lesson to learn is how important it is to give full concentration to flying. Even the most expierenced pilots can crash the second they stop thinking about what there doing. I have only seen a couple crashes so far and none of them were much more then .40 size(other then a real F-86 I saw crash [:@]). This one will be replaying in my head for a long while to come. I hope he is able to replace it I really liked watching him fly it.

I wondered if I had been locked out due to poor batts but I had 5.3v in them (according to the LCD on the radio any ways)

But yea, I did change them before I flew the Hellcat

I think that all planes do crash, I have one that has at least 3 crashes on it, yet it looks perfect, that is because each crash was pretty minor, I have had to fix the firewall a couple of times, but nothing major. All planes will eventually crash because of pilot error, engine flame out ect, it happens and is part of the hobby, but most crashes are pretty minor, a bit of CA and Epoxy and you can be back in the air in no time.

In the two years I have been flying I can count the number of fatal - no repairable - crashes on one hand, when I really think about it in the last 2 years I have seen one airframe completely destroyed, and one other that I arrived at the field a few minutes late for - but I helped him find his plane in the bush.

Over that time I have seen maybe 25 total crashes (including 4 or 5 of my own).

Pretty much 100% of the crashes I have seen were a result of pilot error.
