I have a new prop with a hole that is too big for the shaft. The prop vibrates due to being off center when the engine runs. Any good/easy/quick way to make this prop fit? I thought of winding some real thin copper wire around the engine shaft or using several layers of heat shrink tubing over the shaft. Wrap electrical tape? Maybe there is another, better way?
Thanks,
Bob

If it were me I'd throw it right in the trash. Problem solved. If some kind of fix comes apart when you're flying I imagine it would be pretty bad news. Props are cheap, just get another one. Not worth losing plane or hurting someone for a $3.00 part.

I've used teflon tape (for sealing plumbing threads) as well as masking tape in the past. I wouldn't use any hard materials such as wire that you stated. This adds weight and could possible to damage to the crankshaft. Any soft materials such as I listed will work, including the electrical tape you asked about. Wrap this around the crankshaft until you can slip the prop over the materials. There is no worries about doing this because the materials wrapped around the shaft center the prop, and then the prop nut holds the prop in that position when you tighten it all down.
Hope this helps

as rc ken state, wrap some teflon tape around the shaft and then put the prop on.
Why is the hole too big? Did you ream it to that size or is it supposed to be like that? Maybe a defective prop?

A half inch of fuel line over the shaft should do,, it will bunch up a bit when you tighten the prop nut and make the prop even more secure....thats the easiest cure I know of///.....Rog
