Default Thunder Tiger 61

I have a thunder tiger 61 that runs great. The problem is; when the barrel is completely closed the engine just continues to idle at a very slow speed. It just doesn't want to quit. Any suggestions? I don't want to fool with it too much because it runs so good. I have to stop it by removing the fuel line or pinching it off. I have throttle stop but that won't do it.

Sounds like your carb is sucking air at the attachment point Gene.

Try loosening the carb, then press it down against the O-Ring as you re-tighten it.

If it IS leaking air at that junction, this should correct it - of course now that it is no longer sucking extra air, you will probably need to adjust the needle valve to compensate.

Yep, air leak. Could be at the rear cover too. All it needs is ANY path into the crankcase. Had one like that once on another guys plane. Mystified us all until we found one carb mtg screw was missing - air path.

I had this exact problem with my TH .61. I tried loosening the carb and pushing down on the o-ring but still could not get it to shut down. Finally, I used a toothpick to spread a light coat of silicone on the carb barrell between the the o-ring and the engine case. I reseated the carb and tightened it while holding it down. I let the silicone cure overnight. That solved the problem. It runs great now, but as Minnflyer says, you will definitely need to adjust the mixture......high end anyway.

We have a kid in our club, he usually comes out with his grandpa. He flys about 10 feet over the ground. The only time I'm 10 feet over the ground is when I take off or when I am landing, and that's briefly. This kid does it all at that height. Jeech..
