Another "Name that plane" game.

I just bought this plane tonight. The advertizer called it a "Zenoah" Radio Control Airplane. Well, knowing Zenoa was an engine not a plane I went to go look. I found what I believe to be a Laser 200 with a 62cc Zenoah gasser and older high torque JR servos. Not to mention the 5 22x10 props it came with and the true turn spinner. The wing span is 87 inches. All in all a heck of a deal even withouth knowing the make of the plane. Well I thought I should put it up here and see if anyone can ID it for me or maybey help with a CG location(not a big deal I've gotten pretty good at guessing). Also if I'm wrong about the airframe being a Laser 200 then please correct me. Thanks for the help.

Humm, I've got a 1/4 scale Lanier Laser 200 kit in the garage. The fuselage and the flying wires on the tail look right. Then things go wrong from there. The Lainer Laser 200 has a tube connector for the wing halfs. It looks as if yours has ply spars that bolt to a ply cross member. That is like the Extra 230 33% kit I have from ACE. The cowl doesn't look quite right either. Could be wrong
There is a thread on the flying giants site for a 1/3 scale laser 200. It might be that one as I'm fairly sure my 1/4 scale is less that a 87" wing span. http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/f...ser-200-a.html
You will have to sign up to see the photos I found.

Go to this website to determine the MAC, http://www.palosrc.com/instructors/cg.htm. It should be at 30% of the MAC for stable flight and 35% or more for an IMAC plane. Dan.

OK, this editing is getting rediculious. I think if you replaced the **** with "I'm going -flying- tomorrow", there should be some -giants- birds there. It may work

Do a google on Lanier laser 200. lots of stuff. Turn out my 1/4 scale kit has a 72" span The 1/3 scale is a 96" span. Your 87 seems to be in the gap. My first though was a scratch build, and I may be leaning back to that again. You might check some of the old plans sites, IE MAN, nad Model Avaiation for a start and see what they were cranking out. Like I said before, the wing joining looks like an ACE setup.
Good luck on finding out what you have, actually I think you know what, just not by who. I've got a pattern plane about the same vintage and size and I've struck out figuring out what it is.

I think I have it figured out! I believe it's an Aeropro Laser 200. The kit was offered as an ARC. I found some pictures of one online and the wing span matches and they have the same meathod of mounting (the wings).
Can you believe I got this thing for $400

Well, I got the landing gear mounted, installed a Zenoah kill switch for the ignition and test ran the motor. Using the high torque starter motor (that came with the deal) was nice. Kicked that 62cc beastie right over and she fired and held a nice idle. Bring it off idle and it was pulling very hard. I'm pleased
Next step will be to install a reciever and battery pack.

I don't know, it has all the lines of the ace 230 I rebuilt for my friend, and it has a ugly lazer noes slapped on it. The wing it exactly the same as his right down to keeping the left and right from moving by sliding inbetween and upper and lower rail on the main ply plate.

I have to agree with plane here. I have both the lanier and aeropro lazers, and this is neither! I'd say by looking at it,it's an attempt to scratch build a lazer useing Ace 230 wing panels and mounting hard ware, and the cowling is from the old E-Z models 120 Diablo. It dosent look to bad,so i say,go fly it!
Good luck

I am 100% certain, beyond the shadow of ANY doubt, that it is an Aeropro Laser 200. I built the EXACT same plane in 1993.
