Aileron tape hinges on Apprentice 15e

The ailerons on this plane are hinged on top and on bottom with strips of tape. Problem is, out of the box the tape was already loosing grip and peeling off in places. I was able to re-stick it but I don't feel particularly confident about flying like that. Is there some other tape I can use that will hold better?

You might see if your local hobby shop has any of this:

An excellent tape is the SR Gapless Hinge Tape at http://www.srbatteries.com/hrdhard.htm

Great tape Chuck. Stickier than old ....heck. I use Blenderm for masking around corners when painting, as it bends so easily. Probably would make good hinge tape, but I don't know if many LHSs would carry it. I have to get mine at a drugstore.

Do you actually use it for hinges, or just to seal the hinge joint. I must try some next plane. I have been using the method of pulling the top covering down over the aileron, holding the aileron in the down position, then ironing the covering on both top of wing and top of aileron all in one piece. Then I tuck the fold in the hinge gap as the aileron comes up into a neutral position. I'am always surprised that the air pressure on the bottom of the wing doesn't blow it up, but it has never happened to me.
