Default PC 9

Hi guys,
I was given a used PC 9 from a very good friend with all hardware installed plus os engine. The problem is its a try-cycle and the nose wheel does not work properly. The nose wheel is loose and the screw securing the nose wheel on is hard to get to because the os engine is installed inverted and the same screw is stricking the engine when you turn to the left.
Im not a fan of these nose wheels because they give trouble and was considering converting the PC9 to a TAIL DRAGGER]. Is this a good idea or does anyone have any other ideas.
Thanks Damien

Damien, take the engine out of the plane, put a small drop of lock tight on the screw of the landing gear, and tighten. Then re-install the engine.
Sometimes you have to take apart a few things to get to a proper fix. Daren

When you pull the engine, also pull nose gear out. Check it to make sure there are flats ground on the wire where the set screws will seat against the gear wire. When you put it back in, make sure you use Loktite on the threads.

The reason for the flats is to prevent the wire from turning under stress on the ground.

The PC 9 is a good plane to fly as it is, these front wheels can be a problem as they are very soft. I replaced mine with a Dubro equivalent and have not had any trouble since. The plane is easy to take off and much easier to land than a tail dragger. When it comes in it sticks to the ground very well and does not bounce like a tail dragger does. I would also look a bit silly as a tail dragger because that is not the way it flies at full size.

Just be carefull with the engine, we started out with a magnum 52 fs which was ok, then went to a tt 54 fs which was a bit better and now fly with a Saito 72 fs in the nose, goes well has plenty of authority and will do all the moves.
