My new magnum 46 muffler seems to leak alot of oil, I tightened it and it didn't help. Would HobbyPeople warranty it, or should I try to put the muffler from my 55 ax on it?

Where does it leak at? I've sometimes used a little RTV on the flange where it meets the cylinder. I've also done it to the joint where the two muffler sections fit together. Another option on that joint is to just TIG weld it. Only down side is you can't move the exhaust outlet any more.

I ended up using the copper gasket stuff in a tube from the auto store at the muffler halves, and on the manifold. I applied it with a flat toothpick end to avoid getting way too much on at any point. Clean the parts up before hand with some alcohol to get rid of the oil to get it to stick well, and it sealed my problem up quite well.

actually all my magnum engines has had a "leaking muffler". Magnum is the same engine as Sc and Asp and they all run great but when I think about it, they all leaked from the muffler! Not a big problem though

I've nevered worried about a muffler leaking oil. The oil gets everywhere with a 2 cycle engine, so some of it coming out muffler fittings instead of just blowing out the exhaust pipe is of zero concern to me. As the guys above posted, use some rtv or gasket material if it really bothers you. The main concern is that the muffler stays tight and secure, and it doesn't fall off the plane.

It seals fine at the head of the engine, but it leaks out the front screw and where the two halves meet. I'll give the silicone a shot, and see if my other muffler fits. I think it has the same flange pattern, just not sure if a bigger muffler will be good for the power curve. I want it sealed because I am putting an exhaust tube on it to keep the oil from getting all over everything. It ran well with the test tube on it already.
