Hi How well do you think this engine (RCGF 20cc Gasoline Model Airplane Engine CM-6 MINI Plug) will work in this plane. http://www.top-flite.com/airplanes/topa0135.html
Would like tp try something different.
Thanks

you would wanna run that engine inverted, the stock muffler should work....... if not you can try one of these http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/n...roduct_id=3557, i honestly dont have any experience with rcfg, from reading on rcu they seem like ok engines.....

That's alot of engine...20cc gas is the same as a 120 glow.....I wonder if you'll have room under the cowl for the engine and ignition, and if there's enough room for the carb.....it should have some vertical to it

Hi here is the specks on this plane. Thinking about using poly u for covering whitch will make plane littie heaver. I have a F6F Hellcat with a G20 in it it fit fine under the cowl. Also where can I find a good price on retracts for this plane I found a few forums on this plane for building help but none with a gas engine. I wat told that this plane was tail heavy with glow engines, instead of adding lead I will just add little heaver engine.
Thanks for all the help

Hi!
It will work but the plane will be rather heavy and not fly that well!
Better engine choice would be a 15cc two stroke or a .90 four stroke both with a 14x6 or 15x4W APC prop.

I think it will work just fine. It will be close to or just a few ounces heavier than the OS 1.20 4-stroke shown on the kit plans.
I've seen one of these kits with a Zenoah G-26. I've also seen several other warbirds with this sort of large, round cowl using small gas engines such as Zenohas, MLD's, etc. I have this P-47 kit still half completed and I can tell you that you'll have room for the engine.
It may balance OK or you may have to get creative with your servo and battery placement to hit the right CG. Try not to add weight if it can be avoided.
Actually, this really isn't a beginner airplane or setup by any means and you might get a lot better answers over in the warbird forum. I'll bet several of those guys have done something like this already.

Thanks I know that it is a hard plane but I like building and learing new things, but with good support I think that I can complete this project. Also looking for a good pirce on retracts, where would be a good place to buy from.
Thanks

I built the scale model of the same plane when I was a kid. It was the bonnie razorback just like they show! I think the razorback is much better looking than the bubble canopy, but it probably restricted some of the pilots view.

As for the retracts, don't skimp. I would by good heavy duty gear from someone like Robart, Century Jet, etc. Retracts that break, don't work or bend can ruin your day and possibly your airplane.
Again, there is probably a ton of information on this plane and what works and what doesn't in the warbird forum.

I have made a offer on this engine if it won't fit in the cowl what would be a good plane for this engine.
Thanks

It appears they no longer make the smaller version.
