Default Battery Installation

When installing the battery in a glow plane is it necessary to pad it? Why?

I understand padding the electronics and fuel, just not sure on the battery.

Thanks for the replys,

Is it necessary, no, is it a good idea, yes. It protects the battery from vibration and damage in the event of a crash. It also should be wrapped and securely padded in the plane so it cannot move around. Good Luck, Dave

Yes you should pad it. The vibrations from the engine can affect the solder joints on the battery tabs and wiring, and could cause a mechanical failure in those joints.

The components inside the battery cells don't like vibration either.  Pad the pack well, and protect it with a plastic bag if it mounts near the fuel tank.
