I took my cub out to the field today, and for the first time I had 6 successful flights.
I thought the first time I flew this cub the curse was over, but the second attempt ended in a violent tip stall. after repairing it. a week later I flew it again. the same thing happened, good first flight tip stall on second. this cycle has gone on for three times. but today the second flight curse is no more!!! I will say it's nice to bring my cub home in the same condition it left in after being flown!!!

Great flying today, I really enjoyed having both are cubs up at the same time.
The stick and the pony were a blast together to.
And yes as a witness the cub curse is over.

There is an old guy in my old club that is a great modeler. His favorite plans to build are gaint scale aerobatic planes extra, edge pitts etc and classics from the 30's monocoups, howards wacos. He always said everyone needed at least one cub to see how bad they really fly and master it. It will help you fly anything in a scale manner. He liked clipped wings more than standard wing cubs.

ground handling is not my issue.....mine handles real nice......i changed the stock tail wheel....to my own design.....it works fantastic. flying the thing is whats got me worried.....i fly them on the sim.....(G4.5)....they tip stall....then if ya make a landing......they float forever......just a quik pic. of my strip.....gotta make a 180 real fast to land....i have no good approach.....i can only takeoff and land going west.....due to trees and wires..and hills....and of course a swamp on my right and a beaver pond to the east....i manage to fly the escapade....the nextar....the electrastar ep select.....superstar......a fokker biplane.....a piper pawnee. cub?.....got me worried about drifting. i fly in a bowl. i just dont have a decent approach at all. by the time i make my turn from base to final.....i have eaten up half the runway....what would you do?......my decision was dont fly it here......too nice of a plane to ruin.

try a low level downwind pass, when you make your final, adjust your altitude so as you exit your turn and are lined up with the runway you are just about on the ground. you may even have to float it in a bit before touch down. I use this theory with my P-51 and it works good, I've also noticed when I "fly" a plane in all the way to the ground the landings are much more pretty. I was having an issue with bouncing my landings really bad, I realized I was trying to land the planes too slow. I increased my landing speed and the bouncing stopped.

this is how i been flying my planes....the only way i can get em into the strip....the cub however.....i havent tried it.....im almost 100% sure i just dont have the room for it here. its a handful with the rest of my planes...they dont float so bad....this cub....it keeps on going....and its not the most agile turning airplane i ever flew. i use lots of rudder to get in my strip on final....if its a crosswind.....i either overfly it or underfly it....depending on the direction....by the time im leveled out im usually lined up good...then i crab it with rudder to keep the nose into the wind....with opposite aileron....so far it works good. this cub is my pride and joy.....i keep it clean everyday....maybe someday.....i will lease a pc. of ground larger than my strip i have.....im sure i can handle the cub.....im just not sure i have the room for it....and dont want to find out the hard way. thanks all for your input.

Two words: adverse yaw.

I`m sure you`ll be just fine flying a cub at your field. Trainers do also float you know
You should do some sideslip landings. Once you manage to do that well, you will have waaay more controll over your airplane!
