I am assembling a Lanier Sea BirdIt is almost all plastic. I plan on painting it white and would like to do the trim in Monokote. Can I use the windex method? I could paint the entire plane but it seems like I would have to have a lot of different colors and in small amounts..

When you try it, let us know how it works
While I'm familiar with, and use, the Windex method of adhering MonoKote, I haven't heard of trying it on a plastic fuselage. Depending on the type of plastic and surface finish, I'm curious if it will work considering it'll stick to MonoKote and other coverings using the same technique.
I'd say give it a shot on a small area, and take some pictures (success or failure) so we can see what actually happens.

I've seen Monokote on fiberglass and I have a plane where the wheel pants are trimmed with it. My main concern would be heat damage when you use the iron to seal down the edges. It could cause issues with the plastic and/or the paint. Then again it may not depending on the material and temps. You could always try a low temp covering such as Ekonkote. Not sure if the windex will work with that though. Monokote trim solvent may be another option if it doesn't attack the paint or the plastic.
I'm sure someone out there has tried it and knows for sure.

G'afternoon my friend. We have been eating on the run, back and forth to Toledo. I have a lanier Sea Bird that has been sitting in the box and thought I would have a go at it. Trying to figure out how I can put a spare 91 magnum 4 stroke on it. Running into problems with the prop clearance. I can sneak a 13/8 on it and if I put 3 coats of paint the prop will strike. Been flying every morning that I can. Trying to get the sportmans routine down.

My Feedback: (1)
Yeah, Irish. A three blade should work just fine with the sea-bird. A lot of folks use them for ground clearance issues. They are not that efficient (less than two blade.... and, if you believe this, one blade with counterweight..). Many Pattern folks use them BECAUSE of the tendency to "brake" as you decellerate, or throttle down. They will slow it down faster than a two blade prop.

Hope your son-in-law is doing better. Fingers crossed and, of course, prayers are with him.

So far so good. If no infection sets in they may be able to save his arm Won't be able to use it much, but will still have it. RCKen said he was going to be in Toledo in Sept. and maybe we could get together and go flying. That would be nice. I think I will get a 3-blade and give it a try. A bit much for power but I didn't have a 80 4 stroke so the 90 gets the ride. Hot wings tonight at buffalo wild wings. Just like Emmeril, they kick it up a notch.
