Hello I am installing a Futaba 7C 2.4ghz radio system in my ultra stick that I almost have done. I am wondering if any of you could take a picture of your radio install in this plane or any other using the 2.4ghz system.

The beauty of the 2.4 GHz systems are that they are pretty versitile. As long as you follow the general rules for 2.4 GHz and keep the antennas separated as far apart as possible AND that you put them perpendicular to each other, you should be good to go.

I am not familiar with the Futaba system, so my statement is pretty generalized, but I AM familiar with the Spektrum system and I've never.. NEVER had a problem with antenna orientation and signal reception in any of my installations. It was easy enough to follow, as I said, separation plus perpendicular (for two antenna installations.. some have only one antenna and that's pretty much a no-brainer for installation) and you should be just fine.

I glue two tubes at 90 degrees to each other and slip an antenna into each one.

I have been glueing about 1/4 in foom to the side walls toward the back of the plane one on each side. Then valcro to the foam and valcro to the rx unit. I do put the ant. in two directions , like the one on one side will be parrell to the ground and the other side pointing upward.

one of the reasond I put the two ant, (and the is if you have the twin ant) toward the back is that 2.4 has a real problem with line of sight. If anything is in the way of tx to rx unit it will hurt the signel, like engien , elect. equip.

Great minds think alike. that is what I have done with my Airtronics. Nice and neat and works great. Now,,,, if only I could fly!!!!!!

Same here, I use antenna tubing made for rc cars. I don't like using straws, they're too big and don't look very neat.

Yeah, that's a great way to do it. I have the Spektrum system with a satellite receiver so it gets mounted perpendicular to the main receiver with the little antennae oriented as such. I do, however, put some stiffening on the antennae. Perhaps a better way would be to enclose them in tubes as Minn and you, Irish, have done with your Futaba RX's.
