it was really easy. I didnt get my tower trainer yet so me and my fiend went to our local Field because hes also learning and He has a Nexstar Select Nitro Trainer and it was just very simple to me. I took it up 2 times and landed fairly good. Ive been using a Sim for alittle over a month now. What should I do. Should I just keep the tower and use it for awhile or go to the next step?
When i mean easy I mean i didnt have any problems flying at all or even landing. Some of the guys were really impressed when they asked how long ive been flying and i told them this was my first time but ive been using a Sim for sometime now.

Congratulations! I've noticed it comes easier to some guys than others. Good job being able to LAND on your first flights. That's really outstanding. Go ahead and get the Tower Trainer and learn on it for awhile. It's a really good, easy plane to fly. I have moved on to other sportier planes, but I still fly my trainer more than any other plane. It will do loops and rolls, stall turns, etc... just like the sport planes, just not as fast or pretty. It's fun to do touch and go's and see how softly you can float it in. Convert it to a taildragger, modify it, it has been a lot of fun. If I destroyed it tomorrow, I'd get another one.

Keep it. There are things a trainer can teach you that a simulator can't. You're in NY, so in a few months a set of skis will open up a whole new world of winter flying to you and a high-wing trainer is a great way to begin there, too.

Congrats on the successful flights. Stick with the trainer though. I'm not trying to sound negative but you still have a lot to learn and airplanes have a way of teaching you a lesson if you aren't ready. I should know. I was guilty when I started out of having a good day and thinking I was better than I really was only to crash the next week.

Stick with the tower trainer, I've flown both the nexstar and the tower and the tower Is a good plane, does'nt float as much as the nexstar but is still a great trainer. The nexstar I flew did'nt want to land it floated so much. But I'm used to my Yak that comes down fast. You remind me of myself. I used a sim for a month or so waiting on my trainer, then took it up and down with now problem. I flew it for about a month then bought a tiger60 kit to start building. Good luck,

Keep the trainer and start working on aerobatics with it and run a bunch of touch and goes.
You said "landed fairly good" practice till you make real nice smooth, no bounce landings every time.

i was out again today flying and what i meant by landing i actually didnt bounce land at all. it was pretty smooth. Today was alittle rougher for me just because the weather was blah. very windy but I did real good. then it started to rain so we waited for the rain to stop and i took her back up. I tryed a few rolls wich was pretty easy.
yeah i didnt try any touch and goes. im trying not to go crazy aith his plane because i dont want to mess it up since its not mine. i wish i had mine because id be more comfortable up in the air and not so worried about wreckign someone elses plane

Yep keep at it, you'll need to deadstick in, do touch n goes, and such to get your club permit if they do that...I went through a few trainers and still wish I had my Tower trainer,,the set up with the OS .40la was a great combo...next favorite is my Herr extra with a .15 OS la on it....Rog

When you are in complete control of the airplane, flying smoothly in your turns, doing round loops and maintaining altitude in rolls, and landing without ever stalling or ballooning, then you're ready for a second plane.

I'm finishing my third season now still with my first plane, repaired a couple of times of course. Its a Hangar 9 Arrow, not the most acrobatic plane on the planet but its got enough to keep me interested. I just started trying rolling circles tonight. I'm sure the tower trainer isn't too far off. You'll find that in the hands of the proficient your trainer will do many things you never thought possible... When my instructor did a near perfect rolling circle with my plane I was pretty sure I'd get solid mileage out of it... A trainer isn't the best balanced plane or the most aerodynamic for a lot of manouvers, but you'll find that your control gets much better when you have to correct mid manouver, aileron in a big loop for example, or a bit of elevator in a roll to maintain you altitude.... I went for a ride in a Citabria last week and having been in a plane that has snap rolled you get a sense of what the plane is actually doing. My r/c snaps, even with a trainer can be very nice...with a bit of practice.

Also, aside from what has been mentioned about how much can be learned on a trainer, it is nice to have one even if you have been flying for years just for an occasional relaxing flight that you just can't get from your hardcore 3D plane.
Plus trainers make excellent float planes if you ever get the chance to fly off of water.
