Well, it's offical, I am a nitro RC pilot!
It was an incredably beautiful afternoon today. Rained all morning but cleared up around noon! Got out to the field at about 2:00 and put it all togather.
My father (long time pilot) took it off and trimmed it out and then handed me the radio. After some tweeking we had a couple flights behind us. The old engine is not running just right. We narrowd it down to a tank problem I think.
Anyway we flew my Typhoon as well and after he saw me land it, he told me if Icould handle the landing on that I could handle the Eagle no problem.
We fired it back up and this time I took it off, made some practice approaches and landed it!!! I made about 8 or 10 touch-n-go's and then we put it away for the evening!
Man, it was great! Perfect weather, very slight breeze, good company, and a GREAT experiance! Isee why this hobby is SOaddictive!
Here are some pictures from today. Thanks for all the advice from you on here as well.
It really feels great to "Get My Wings"!

Well done congradulations. Hey your father must be an old guy like me. I've been flying RC for over 50 years and still get a kick out of it. By the way I spent some time at Norman Ok. during WW2 going to Navy school there, hated the red dirt on my whites haa.

Congratulations!
Be careful, though. Some people may wonder why you're walking around with that semi-permanent smile on your face.
Great feeling isn't it?

well done!!! I do feel obligated to inform you, say goodbye to all your "extra" money now. I've been told there is a balance somewhere but I have yet to find it.

Congrats!! and welcome to the addiction. Like Sportrider said, say goodbye to all of your extra money. At least it is an addiction you don't have to get treatment for.

Seems like it's done nothing but rain here lately, OH WAIT the fair is here thats why. Good to hear you got your nitro wings, I love my electrics but there is nothing like having an actual engine providing the power.

HEY! Great to see some fellow Okies on here! Thanks guys!
Iwent out again on Sunday and flew several more times. There was a little more wind yesterday but in some respects it made landing just a little easier.
There was a buch of others out there and they were shocked that it was my second day! I actually overheard a couple of they while Iwas on the flightline Guy 1-"Yeah, he just soloed yesterday." Guy2- "No way, this guy is going to be good, he's got it down!" Boy, did that make me feel good! Igot a cheer from the croud when I landed straight down the runway on the yellow line. I kind of suprized me, I turned around for a glips (plane on the ground) and everyone was standing up clapping! I couldn't believe it!
Man, what fun!!

a: it's cheaper and leaves you more money to buy planes with
b: it has more room for planes without all those annoying things, like walls, and furniture.
The final balance point is when you sell your car to buy a large van, complete with secure racks and a full size, fold out work bench, and pay for camping rights at your local flying field.

I took my float plane to Texoma over Labor Day weekend, and had a crowd of about 20 on shore and 3 boats just sitting out in the lake watching me. They all clapped as I brought her in on the water, it was pretty cool. I'm glad I didn't notice them before I landed, I'm sure I would've screwed something up.
