Default Back Burner project

I started this kit 2 years ago and put on the back burner
for a year. The lousy weather and bordom made me finish her.

I have a servo that chatters and a few things to rearrange but
hope to take her to the field this weekend.

It's electric and i'm not into electrics after going glow but here
it is.

It is a GP E Cub kit.

I had a old motor from a Elecristar trainer
C 40 I think its called an a Electifly 45 ESC.

Also not using the Bec, Lipo is a 4s 3200 mAh
30 C Flight Power.

That's what I'm thinking too.

I'll be pulling the left stick way back. It is
what I had laying around. I burned up
the original motor learning all the components
of E flight. The Original was a Elecrifly 35-36-1200,
at the time of purchase it was $34.99. Now it's
$59.99. The Cub is my 3rd kit build, the first two
where back in the 80's. My 4th kit is my Astro Hog
which I maiden this summer.

I remember when you were just finishing this plane I think. I commented then how I liked the kit and had one myself but was going to use an old OS .20 FP in it. Well I still have not opened the box on that kit

Yeah,

My triple bypass slowed me down a bit.

Bingo,

The neatness comes from the USMC.
It drives my Wife and Friends nuts,

FWIW,

Took the Cub to the field today for a range check and taxi test.
It was all good, a couple guys said, " that Taxi's great for a Cub.

Then the wind picked up and not too many E powered guys where
flying. So I flew my ole glow powered Stik. Pretty good day,

Any tail dragger that tracks good is a great thing, especially that size model. For some reason, I love flying in strong wind

Glad your surgery went well and thanks a million for serving our country, you are a GREAT AMERICAN. You vet's are the best and could never be appreciated enough and I mean that.

Thanks M.M.

I found some arf wheels in my shop that are
larger than the ones the plans called for. These
should help on our Bermuda grass runway.

Still have the elevator servo buzzing. I'll work
on it today, since it's going to rain again.

The larger wheels make it look like a Bush Cub.

dignlivn , what kit is that? Adding larger wheel's to a kit is no surprise; I've had to do that to all the kits I have bought. Companies will do anything to save a worthless penny.

I have experienced many buzzing servo's and never had any prob's. As you might know, there is a big difference between a buzzing servo and a glitching servo.

Last year I did a maiden flight on a friend of mines giant scale cessna, 5k dollar plane. As we did the pre-flight, I told him it had a elevator servo glitch and he said for meto go for it lol. The flight went well overall with many glitches. The plane would dive,or climb BIGTIME and then fly perfecty for a minute or 2 and would glitch again. On final approach from about 30 ft it glitched downward and smashed into the pavement. It was a total loss, even the engine with custom gold platting was destroyed, everything.

If you'reservo just sit'sthere andhum's, I think you will be alright, if it glitches that's a different story. Keep us/ meposted on the findings.

M.M.

The kit is a Great Planes Electric Cub.

The servo is not glitching, just hums like it
is not centering. The weather is lousy today
but looks good for tomorrow.

Digin,

Looks great! Your batt will fly that thing forever.. I have the same plane, I think that we talked long ago about the motor that you were going to use.. I eventually put mine on floats (Hangar 9 eflite floats) and only fly it on our little neighborhood duck pond now.. Love the cub..

Thanks Bob..

THe cub flies nice with the floats on it.. Gotta keep the speed up on it though, the floats weigh about a pound I think.. Anyway, the motor that I used was this one:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLWU3

PLENTY of power.. Actually it was WAY over powered with wheels, and gets off the water very nice.. Have a 45A speed control it it as well..

John..

John,

That was the original motor I was going with.
But I let the Smoke out ( My Fault). I hope
to fly it tomorrow, wind and weather permitting.

Here's she is at the field.

Had one problem. The spring on the
right Tx stick broke, so the elevator
stick would not return to neutral.

Made for an interesting maiden to
say the least.
