Default Poly Glue Removing

Hi guys...

I want to replace an engine mount made of wood in a Corsair to fit a bigger engine.
The wooden engine mount has been glued with Poly Glue.
I know epoxy can be removed by applying some heat.
Is there a trick to remove the dried Polyurethane Glue ???
There must be something strong enough to dissolve that glue.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks !

You could try acetone...

Acetone will work on Epoxy and CA...Might work on that stuff?

Or use a Dremel and cut it out.

I tried with a dremel before asking the question, but because it's in the engine area , the is not enough space tu cut it with a dremel.

Default Poly Glue Removing

Polyurethane is oblivious to just about every chemical solvent after it cures. That is what makes it an awesome adhesive. Acetone will only work BEFORE it sets. Nitromethane is a good solvent and it will slowly etch into poly, but probably not enough to do any good and you'd probably need 98% pure nitro. UV will attack some polys, but there again, the process is too slow to do any good. The best solution is to mechanically remove the glue. In other words, you are going to have to cut out the firewall and grind away the poly.

Default add to, don't take away

If I understand you correctly, the motor mount is wood. Why not glue more wood (poly glue of coarse) to the existing mount and then cut it larger. this may mean cutting part of the firewall out on each side of the wooden mounts to get back into the fuselage.

just an idea.
