Default PT 19 with decals

Howdy y'all. About a month ago I told everyone I would post pics when I got the decals posted on the PT 19. Well here they are. She looks Sweet!! Also in the background of a couple of pics you see my plane stand that I put together today after reading MinnFlyers "fun with PVC". It cost me less than 10.00 to build and is by far the best plane stand I have ever owned. Enjoy the pics. She is ready to fly!! Just need some good weather and time to do it!!

Easy. one 10 foot section of 3/4 PVC, 8 each 3/4 inch PVC tee's, 4 each 3/4 inch PVC 45 Degree elbows. The long lower peices are 30 inches long. The 4 uprights are 15 inches. With a 4 inch piece of PVC between each of the two upright ends. Just above the top uright Tee's I added another piece of 2 inch 3/4 PVC and attached the 4, 3/4 inch 45 degree elbows, attached 5 inch pieces of PVC to each elbow. Then wrapped the elbow and 5 inch pieces as well as the end cross suports with foam pipe insulation. Finally for side stability I added 4 10 inch pieces of PVC to the lower PVC Tee's. Be sure you have the tee's lined up correctly prior to sliding the pieces together as the PVC glue cures extremely fast! I used a multi purpose PVC glue that will give you about 10 seconds to make adjustments if needed. Some pics to show what I just stated are attached.

Great job on that PT-19!

Couple of flying tips, hope you don't mind...

Takeoff: Hold right rudder, slowly advance throttle. As she rolls and picks up speed, ease off some rudder. A little more power and the tail will lift. Soon after, up she lift's into a low angle climb out ! (Right rudder input ends around liftoff)

The PT-19 really has a scale-like, majestic lift off!

Landing: The PT-19 (especially your size) is not a "Floater"! Try a landing pattern big enough to give a long final approach. Approach with a low-ish angle glide path bleeding off airspeed, however, making sure to maintain minimum controllable airspeed. At runway threshold... throttle to idle, level off and she settles right in!
Good Luck!

Of course I don't mind. Thanks. After what you've said, I might set it up for flaperons. Your advice goes against all I've read about it, most everyone else say it flys alot like a trainer. I always land with a touch of throttle anyway. Your advice is well taken, thanks again.

Looking good and best of luck with the upcoming maiden. I've a PT-19 in my hanger (Hanger 9 1.20 size) and it is one of the finest flying models I've owned or flown. Both take offs and landings are graceful and very predictable. It tracks great in loops, axial rolls don't produce a lot of walloring (if that is a word). Knife edges well and is the only plane I've owned that will do the lumcevak predictably with more often than not three reverse tumbles and sometimes four.

The plane does offer a fairly stark contrast between no wind and headwind landings. With no wind, flapperons are needed to get the plane to slow down for a reasonable landing glide slope but with a headwind, no flapperons are needed and in fact a fair amount of power is needed to maintain the slope.

Hope you like yours as much as I do mine.

Awesome!! Will definately set it up for flaperons. I have read nothing but good things about the flight Chracteristics of this plane. Temps are supposed to be in the high 70's this weekend with sun!!! Something we haven't seen in these parts since last october!! I will be ready!! Can't wait. I doubt my opto kill swtich will be here by saturday, but we'll see. Might fly it without it for the first flight. Will see how she repsonds to throttle trim kill, before I take it up

Hey Bill.. nice job!! With flaperons, just be careful to maintain aileron control with flaps deployed. In other words, don't reduce your aileron effectiveness to nil by putting to much throw in the flaps. If you bottom out the ailerons with flaps, well, you won't have any left for aileron control.

Rgr. I have the Decathlon setup with flaperons, and spoilerons. Will set the Flaperon throws low so that I will still have plenty of aileron control. I use the flaperons for take off as well.
