Sounds like too much or the wrong kind of hardener

Any chance you mixed a small amount of epxoy that was already going off in with the new stuff.

IE used the same surface to mix on. That will set it off quickly.

I use Post It notes to mix on - discarding the top one each time.

there is no chance to use the wrong hardener cause  I only have 30 min  and for the mix surface, I use disposable cups, maybe I used too much hardener then?

I would have to say that you used too much hardner. This exact thing happened to me about 3 months ago. The epoxy got so hot I could not touch the cup. Trying to figure out what happened, I realized I had put more hardner in than I should have. I didnt read my marks on the cup right. It hasnt happened to me since.

Well, I know when I mix up a large amount of epoxy, I have to work faster than the instructions say that curing will occur. I use my watch with count up timer and keep track of time elapsed when mixing. It's almost better to use the 2 hour to give enough working time.

Never said anything about CA hinges, just wondered what hinges you were using. Did the epoxy get real hot to the touch? That has happened to me when I didn't get the mix 50/50. And an did it set up super fast. It got almost too hot to touch

Yep. I even used a mixing cup, the kind that u get with Nyqil or cough medicine. guess I misread the number. If it gets to hot to touch and sets fast, it's not mixed right. It will also appear to be more yellow colored than usual. Mine was definitely off, it hardened alomost instantly. It doesn't take much of an imbalance between the mixes to cause it, at least that has been my experience. I have some epoxy that has the double shringe that is suppose to dump equal amounts, it seems to work pretty good, but the ends of the shringes need to be super clean before you close them up, or they'll be sealed tight the next time you go to use it. Lots of guys here swear by gorilla glue for nylon hinges. Takes a while to set up, but those that use it say it's the "cats meow" for nylon hinges and also for CA hinges that get loose after applying CA
