OK, after reading all your suggestions and reading reviews and articles elsewhere on the internet I have made my choice. I also talked to one of the guys that teaches and advises in the club. He says the Stick is not really bothered too much by the low speed winds we get here in the mountains like other trainer can be.
So I am going to go with a Ultra Sick 40 and build it as an electric.
I will just set it up with low rates the beginning to get the touch back for the controls.
And as I see it when I get back to where I was I can increase the rates and have some fun with this one too.
Someday I would like to have an Extra~but that is someday. [img][/img]
Thanks for all the help and the suggestions!

Sweet, another Stik

You won't regret it.

You should really enjoy the Ultra Stik 40, krashkart. If you get some significant flying time on it over the next several months, you'll be ready for that Extra 300 sooner than you might think!

Good luck and good flying.

Yip,

that Extra is closer than you think. Once I've mastered the Escapade, I will switch to a aerbat as well.

I've got my eye on a Pilot-RC Extra 260 in 26% scale.

A real Beaut!!

Since you have flown before and been on the sim, a good honest plane that won't bore you is the Tower Kaos 40 ARF. Set to low rates it will take off beautifully, fly as directed, and lands almost by itself. It is the trainer I wish I had besides the the one I did use...a SuperStar. The Kaos will make you confident and not create a nervous condition. (Putting on flame proof suit)!

The Tiger Stick 40 was my second plane. In some ways, it is easier to fly than my trainer. I still have both. I recovered the trainer after a crash and have started to recover the Stick.

If I was you I'd forget about those "boring" trainers with all that dihedral that lets the wind take them anywhere and get myself a goldberg tiger 60. Flys much better than a trainer, very aerobatic, and cuts through the wind so easily, along with, it will land on a dime! Aerobatics are so easy with it and will make you look like a seasoned flyer.

As far as the piper cub and aerobatics, that all depends who's behind the controls. That is, with a clipped wing and not that big "surf board" full wing as minnflyer once mentioned.

Good luck on your decision,

big dan

what's wrong with the 3 blade prop? saying it " sucks" and not saying why leaves me to believe you have and ax to grind.

You can convert any plane to electric and the stick was a great choice. I will teach a student with a stick, no problem at all with them. Keeps me on my toes a little more. SCREWCAP, you will see some really silly statements here on RCU when it comes to props, this is the best size for that engine type of thing. There is no best prop, it's a pilots choice. You test a bunch of props in the different sizes and makes then decide what prop will fly the plane the way you, the pilot likes the best. Some are just a lot better then others but until you do the testing you just don't know. Forget it and just shine it on. One size/make does not fit all. If your happy with it then all is fine with the world.
