I recently posted regarding hobbico's nexstar ep. Well I finally received it, but was disapointed that it was missing the usb cord that connects to my pc so that I could practice since I have never flown before. Worse is that I was unable to connect the wings..the plastic connector was warped and so would not allow other wing to slide in. So I returned it. Not sure if I should order another nexstar or not. Meanwhile I also purchased a battery/charger combo that requires a 12 v charge from car battery or another source. Does anyone know of a good 12 v charger for this charger since I would rather not have to clamp it on to my car battery. If anyone can help me out with this I would appreciate it.

You are not looking for a charger but a 12 volt source.
You can get a plug that goes into your cigarette lightter... or whatever the PC police are calling them now
Radio Shack sells these. You can remove the alligator clips and put them in theis plug and use your "cigarette lighter" to charge your battery. Get a long enough cord to put the charger well outside your car, though. You don't want this to happen to your car.

Thanks CG...Unfortunately the charger I have, the alligator clips cannot be removed. I have found a few power supply sources after some research last night that I can plug into an a/c outlet and they switch to d/c. I will probably have to choose one of these. Integy and Realplanes are two that I think I will go with. Thanks for your reply...appreciated.

Red Casey... I couldn't see Hobbico having such problems in the box of a Nexstar... are you sure the two wing halves WOULDN'T fit...
were you trying to join them straight together? if so then that's why the plastic joiner was "warped" the nexstar has a good amount of dehidral and the two wing halves will both go in at an angle and it's a real tight fit on the nexstar joiner which is a good thing...
Yeah maybe the usb cord was missing but if you just contacted them I know a big name company like that would send you a USB cable in a heartbeat.
Don't get discouraged man once you get that plane in the air ALL these problems are going to go away as soon as the wheels lift off the runway.

Hey Chevypower,
thanks for the response. Yeah the nexstar had 2 defects the plastic that holds the wings together was warped on the side where you had to join the wing. you could see the difference where it was joined to the other. Also the wing that I couldn't connect was missing the blue stripe on the bottom that goes all around the wing top and bottom on the other. I think that this particular nexstar may have been someone elses return.
Anyway, I will be getting another soon. I can't wait to take it up. Willbbuddy up with an instructor initially. And will be using the realflight simulator of the nexstar.
Thanks again

I have not seen the Nexstar EP. I trained (one of two trainers) on the NexStar Select RTF (Glow) and I believe it is much "tougher" (meaning heavier) than the EP. But, with that said, I did have a few issues with the fit of the plastic parts, but eventually, I got them all to fit and flew it till solo. I did manage a couple of serious mishaps in which I mangled the landing gear as it was (all plastic snap-in parts) that ended up getting epoxied in somewhat permanantly. But, that means that they fit to start off with, which they did.
As far as I know, that NexStar is STILL flying out there somewhere. I sold it to someone that really needed it, he flew on-and-off for a year or so then passed away from cancer. [&o]
But, I believe it's still around, and that's been quite a few years now.
My point is that these trainers are tough. I would think the EP's are equally as tough, for an electric light-weight trainer. So, hang in there and work with an experienced instructor that can help you with the assembly or help with making it work for you.

haha we're all good here CG!
I was just playing around with the exclamation mark.. and yes I had the glow powered RTF and sure enough had the landing gear expoxied in the two slots after my TRAINER! landed her in some brushes on a deadstick! no harsh feelings though
haha but yeah it's a great plane and you'll have a great time with it! I believe the electric is almost the same as as the glow.. I'm sure there's some weight reduction somewhere in there, but has the same lines and layout I believe
