I have been saving my $ to purchase a Saito FA-82.
I see many out there for sale at nearly what they sell for new so I thought I would just purchase new so I would have a warranty.
Then I must assume a sale that was on went off at Horizon (I did not know it was on sale) and it went up $30 or so on me.

I saw one new in the box today and offered to buy it but there was another offer before me that must have got it.

If it were not for bad luck I guess I would not have any at all.
Oh well, save a few more $ and hope the manufacturer does not increase prices!
Putting this new aircraft (Ultra Stick 40) together has been fun but it sure is hard on the retirement $
But in all fairness I had to buyallthe field gear and suchjust starting out again after more than 30 years absence.
But I will be in the air again before this Fall! I promise.

Yes I like the sound of the 4 stroke much more than the 2 strokes.
Lots of people in the local club have them and have good luck with them.
All I need now is the motor and the fuel an fuel line.
I even have the break in/test stand built for it.
Started out with an electric Slow Stick and got bored really quick with that so I dumped the idea of electric and went with the 4 stroke. Besides, I started with U Control in the 1950s as a kid and gas motors are what I like, don't ask me why, getting old I guess.
I think electric is great for smaller planes but later I want to get into bigger units and just like our cars on the roads today batteries are not what they need to be just yet for larger applications.
I know it can be done, but at great expense and weight.
And I already had one Lipo swell really bad on me for some unknown reason. Man did that happen in a hurry and did it get hot!
My assumption is that when the wind picked up and my SS came down that battery took a hard hit. Not much on a SS to protect it, that's for sure.

Ken, Like you, I got back into the hobby about four years back. Ijumped on the four strokes, mainly because my first plane on return wasa Rupert's Dad from a build article and plans from RC Model World Magazine. It called for a 52 to 56 Four stroke so Igot busy on Ebay and picked a Magnum 52. Turns out I needed about 6 oz to balance it, so Ifound a Magnum 70 that happened to weight about 6 0z more than the 52. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then. I now own something like 14 four stroke and a couple 2 stroke engines. The 2 strokes don't see much if any air time. The four stroke don't whine, the pull strong on a big prop, and are easy on fuel. Not much else to ask for.
Welcome back to the hobby, There is a steep catch-up curve. I'm not sure I've got to the top of it yet. It keeps the excitement going thought.

I just get a huge kick out of the guys who fly electric and then "detail" their warbirds with airbrushed exhaust stains - usually WAY more and way darker than the "real thing" would have been in service.

Yes the 82 is at the top of the recommended scale for the kit, but then again I am at 5400+' and I will wind up with 72 performance if the charts are correct.
I just found a shop still selling them for $260with free shippingso I will order one there I guess.
That's better than most that want $300 now for it.

I to returned to the hobbie after many years absence. I took an electric model out to the local club with no intention of ever flying any thing but electric . But after a short time there someone started a glow motor, the sound and smell sent me rocketing back to my childhood Once again I was hooked</p>

Yup Charlie or the ones who spend big on electonic devices to bring the noise back to their airplanes. Whats next gadgets to dispense artifical glow fuel insense?

Your going to love the ultra stick with the saito. If its the white/red/black 40, Please please, put black stripes on the bottom of the wings. Very easy to lose orientation on the model. Trust me, I learned the hard way. :-)
