Hi, I own a 1/6th scale rambo. It has a .46force engine that has come to need some work done. I'm in need of a new starting pin and probably starting axle. The drama I'm having is how to actually dissasemble the engine to replace these parts. I've gotten to the point where I can see the con rod and crankshaft but can't for the life of me work out how to disconnect the con rod from the crankshaft, or the piston from the con rod. The starting pin has been broken off from con rod/crankshaft leaving a portion of it inside the crank. My question is how can I dissasemble the engine further to retrieve the portion of starting pin?
Once I can do that I'll be in the position where I won't know how to install the new starting pin, so I need assistance with how to do that too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -cheers

You'll have to remove the cooling head and sleeve first - this will give you some movement in the piston & con-rod, allowing it to slide off the crank pin. Once that lot is out of the way only the crankshaft will remain, which should slide out with a firm tap.

Push it upwards from the bottom by hand, or failing that with the dull end of a screwdriver - just don't use anything that could damage it. Have you got a photo of the piece snapped off in the crank?

to remove a tight sleeve
piston at bdc
insert a thick zip-tie or popsicle stick
into the exhaust port
rotate piston up
that should push the sleeve up
enough to grasp it
be very careful of using a screw driver
to push the sleeve out
one slip easily equals
ruined sleeve
also, your broken bit may just tap out
once you can get to the parts

Thank you very much. Used the zip tie method and it worked a treat. too easy! now I've just got to get my parts to rebuild. Found a hole on crankshaft to push broken starting pin out too.
