If the engine is run at below 190 for extended periods, the "life" of the motor is reduced considerably. I would take a guess that 7 tanks at 140 is the same as a couple of gallons at 190+.

ALLANG,

You may want to check the screws that hold on the main spur gears. If they came loose then your truck will "lock up" but your engine will keep running. You simply need to lock-tight them back in. Check it out.

@CEN Racing:

Which glow plugs can i use? I got Rossi R4 Cold glow plugs. Are these glow plugs ok?
I have read that u recommend hot glow plugs. But rossi says, that the r4 cold glow plug is for use in 6,5 to 10 ccm engines and for 20 to 30 % Nitro Fuel.

What is right and what is wrong?

Greetings

Patrick

MrMijago ,

We have found that Hot plugs work the best for the GENESIS 46 engine. They provide more heat to ignite the "larger" amount of fuel that is compressed towards the plug. Thus, providing the engine with efficient power. We recommend our platinum plugs (G70429), you can substitue with an O.S. 8 plug.

You seem to have had the same trouble I had...when the fail safe should have kicked in...it did the opposite. Some how mine switched to reverse as I was mashing the gas...and buddy when it hit,the sparks flew and the truck quit...for the 3rd time(broken spur gears) I hope CEN Racing is going to help.I really like this awesome truck and was hoping to turn my friends "onto it".Hey if you have any info or know where I can get better gears ,that I have been hearing about...let me know. Thanks,Mark [email protected]

Problems with my Engine. I got my Genesis last weekend and have broke the engine in with 7 tanks at a temp. of about 180-185. Today I was tweeking 2nd and 3rd gear and was able to get them to kick in at about the right speeds. Tonight I was running it again and now the truck has a really rough idle and when I give it some gas it will go about 60 ft and die on me. I have adjusted both needles and still can't get it to idle or run right. I had my buddy come over who has been into nitro cars and truck for 8 years and he couldn't get it to idle smoothly or run. The needles are all out of place, how should I reset them?
Thanks Ryan

Here is what CEN had to say about needle settings earlier in this thread:

Quote:

"Here are settings that we end up using after the engines completely broken-in with 20% nitro fuel. Your settings will be different but this should be close.

Main Needle, 3 ½ turns out
Bottom Needle, 2 ½ turns in from flush.
Idle Screw, Adjust to keep engine idling smoothly."

Try running at those settings, also try a new plug, check for air leaks in the fuel line and make sure carb, backplate and head screws are tight.

If all else fails, call CEN and get a new one - sounds like you're still covered by the warranty.

If you are experiencing awkward ideling from your .46 engine then it is most likely set too lean. Rc collector has posted the recommended settings in the above post. It would be a good idea to start off a bit rich on the bottom end, 2 turns in from flush. The bottom end needle is VERY sensative, much more sensative then that of the main needle. Depending on your location, weather etc. you may have to run the bottom end at a richer setting then the recommended 2 1/2 in. Then your next step would be to adjust the idle screw.

Highoctan, Do what the CEN guy suggested. There new machined gears are way stonger then the previous sets. The new ones are black and I dont think you can break them.

badboy- ya,

The extra gears are for the center-differential. The truck comes with a locked center-differential. The center locked diff will enable the truck to pull wheelies, but it has been found that it puts more stress on the truck's drive-train. Most people have been installing the center-differential for this reason. The center differential will make the truck handle much better through rough terrain and sweeping turns. Thanks for your question badboy- ya.

Kind Regards,

I put the center differential gears in and the truck drives so much better. My outdrives stopped wearing out and I have allot more steering. I filled the center diff with 140,000 wt diff fluid.

CEN,

If the locked center diff is contributing to the rapid wear of driveline parts, you should ship the truck with the center diff gears installed. After all, it's a lot easier to explain why the truck won't wheelie than why the transmission is prone to premature wear.

RC collector,

We are always striving to improve our products. Future versions of the GENESIS may have the center-diffs installed. Thanks for your comment.

My truck came with a small packet of gears which are what I used in the center. All you need to get is some diff fluid and put the gears in yourselves. It was worth the effort to install them.

Tomandemmy, It does at first with the 140,000 wt oil. I got ahold of some CEN 2000 fluid that is REALLY thick. I think with that it should lift the wheels up off the ground. I will let you know how it works. I think the truck will still pull wheelies even without the lock thing installed. It just depends on the thickness of the fluid.

I think that de thickness of the fluid cannot hold the forces that de engine produces. Besides, when de fluid get warmer, due to driving, it gets less thick.
Last week I drove the truck with only front-wheel-drive. It is getting nowhere. Only wheelspin. Isn't it with the gears installed the same, you get power to the wheels with the lowest traction (the front wheels). Steering is beter, but mine steers allready good (10kgs servo installed for steering)
Braking is also good, I installed the 5kgs servo (was installed for the gearbox!!) to the trotthle/brake linkage and now it brakes very wel.

Aren't you defeating the purpose of installing the center diff gears if you fill it with the thickest fluid you can find? You might as well pour super glue in there. If the truck can still easily pull wheelies then the center differential is essentially locked and not performing like it should. Besides, all wheelies do is flip my truck over and I have to go flip it back over again. They look cool, but I would rather spend my time racing then flipping my car over all the time.

The fluid allows there to be some "give" in the drive train. This greatly improves handling on all surfaces. This is why all racing 1/8th scall buggies use a center differential. It also reduced the stress on the parts.

hey i got a Cen Genesiscan i start this by saying that the manual does have inforation about the enigne run in, it comes seperate on anoher shet to the construction instructions, anyway just a few tips, do not pull the enigne when it is even slightly flooded as you will break the pull starter, also replace the throttle servo with a futaba as the stock servo is (out of no need) a high torque servo so the accuracy of it is very, very low, when tuning you will get better response from the truck should you have a better servo in. also if you insist on using the stock tranny then i suggest taking it apart and greasing the trigger as after repeated use i have found it tends to stick and take a second or two to return to zero, this an be anoying when tryin to smoke some little maxx or a savage, lol...anyway i spoke to a person from cen when they were advertising at my local halfords shop and thy said that yo ucan start to move it slowley after 4 tanks but you must have 6 tanks throuh befoe you can start to lean it out. over al i think the truck i realy good however i would say had the choice i would have gone for the savage truckzilla upgrade, as i have herd this is much better. anyway guys please don't flame me for this post !...lol...have fun!

My Cen Nemesis (NX76 engine) came with a manual and break-in procedures, but it doesn't match what is listed in this post. I know this isn't a Genesis but aren't they they same engine? I just finished running my 6th tank and have been driving after 3 as manual instructs. Pasted below is your instructions from the manual:

Step 14. Break-in Procedures
To begin break in procedures for you’re new engine simply idle 3 tanks of fuel allowing the engine to cool down completely between tanks. On the 4th and 5th tank start driving the truck around slowly. On the 6th tank start leaning it out and making final tuning adjustments. After the engine is broken in, good starting carburetor settings are:
Top End: 3 ½ turns out.
Bottom End: 1 ½ turns in from flush.

Which is the correct method? So far I really like this truck but now I am a little worried about the health of my engine. Please advise.
