I have just bought myself a CEN Gen. LE. I ran 1 tank of 20% with no batteries installed and of course no electrics on. Engine idled perfectly, just as described in the operation manual (step 13) found on CEN website.
Step 13. Proper engine break-in is very important to achieve the highest possible performance and reliability
Allow yourself some time to properly break-in the engine. This is one of the most important steps to follow so take your time. Do not run the engine at high RPMs until it is completely broken in. It is usual for the engine to stall, run inconsistently, and even foul glow plugs during the first couple of tanks. If this is happening to yours, don’t worry about it too much. It is a normal step in running any nitro powered R/C car. All of this will go-away when your engine is broken in well.
However when I came to run the 2nd tank through, with new fuel 25% and batteries install and electric on, the truck decided it didn't want to sit and idle like before it just tried to take off down the street at pretty much full throttle.
I don't know much about the Airtronics MX-3 Radio System, therefore don't know the correct setting nor what I am doing when trying to set it. The current setting of the transmitter is 88/75.95 MHz.
I have not played with the carb. settings bar the idle. I don't understand why the 1st tank ran through perfectly with no radio system, then the 2nd played up with radio system on unless the settings are incorrect on the radio??
Please help anyone, don't know anything about what I doing with this truck. My last truck (Smartech Magic Wheel/T-Maxx) is a toy compared to this one. Any helpful hints would be great.

HMM LOOKing at my NEW CEN CT5 manual, and nothing in the CT5 manual about breakin, BUT WITH MY CT5 manual CAME A CEN NITRO HANDBOOK, hmm a MANUAL just for the ENGINE< SAY IT AINT SOOOO>>> NO ONE EVER DOES THAT... and in the engine manual, it states, and i quote: \
Step 15. Break-in procedures
Lean=less fuel Rich=more fuel
"To properly break in your new engine simply drive your model around keeping the RPMs of the engine low. Do not run the engine at full throttle until a couple of tanks have been ran. Let the engine cool down between tanks. Do this for about 3 tanks of fuel then you can start to lean the engine out.
Step 16. Running the first tanks in the car.
By now you should have ran at least three tanks of fuel through your new engine. Hopefully you took your time and broke the engine in correctly. When driving the car, drive it on a flat smooth surface like the street first. Make sure that your steering trim is adjusted correctly and that the car tracks strait. There is also a dual rate adjustment for the steering throw you have. (How much the wheels actually turn).
Step 17. Adjusting the high-speed mixture screw.
Now your car and engine should be up and running well. the overall performance of the engine is determined by how lean you run the engine. the "leaner" the engine, the faster it will go, and the hotter it will run. You want to find the point where its running very well with lots of power, but not running too hot. If you dont see a light stream of blue smoke from the exhaust, it may be too lean. You then need..... ect. ect. ect..."
that is quote/unquote from my 3 week old CEN CT5 with the NX15 engine...
this isnt rocket science, but to newbs it appears to be...
js0485, do a complete recheck and set up of the radio equip, get extra batteries, you ll want them, leave truck unrunning, turn on radio/electronics. pull trigger and see the slide carb is performing properly, ie. is closed when trigger is at idle. is full open when trigger is pulled all the way, doesnt move when brakes are applied... ( allow for some adjustment. you may only get 8/10 of the trigger pulled when the carb hits WOT. adjust your epa to take up the differance as to not over torque your servos and stress the gears inside.) im willing to bet you ve got an errand adjustment, or the throttle channle (usually chnl2) is or needs to be reversed. something simple, check all your radio gear. if it all checks out, start her up on a test stand. see what it does. watch it for wierd reactions. could be just a loose crystal, reseat them to be sure.
Good Luck
Tim

I do have a Manual for the Genesis 46 however it's basically an assembly guide. I also have a folded A3 laminated sheet with instructions on How to set correct gear mesh, Shim installation, Genesis 2nd and 3rd speed tuning instruction, How to insert the center diff locker, Genesis 46 helpful hints, Genesis Starting instruction and NX76 Engine Set-up and Tuning Instructions.
However not much about the Airtronics Radio System.
Thanks for your advice will give it a try, let you know the results.

So I'm going to be getting a Nemesis soon, will I be okay if I run the heat cycling method for less than 5 tanks? I'm surprised that the number would be 5, and not 4 or 6. Especially with Heat cycling, where you are trying to preserve the tight pinch, running it rich for 5 tanks would really just wear down the piston and sleeve. Anyone else break in their engine differently from what Cen states in this thread, or in the manual?

shoot for the 190 degree mark...temp is the only way to break in and maintain an engine.. on hot days check temp often..from experience...the engine shuts down at about 300 degrees! i hit that mark several times accidently. I don't know if it damaged the engine but, it still runs strong and starts easily..I love my nemesis!
