NT16 clutch options

Sadly the clutches on BOTH NT16 engines have just given up on me. Went to the LHS to get replacement shoes. I was advised to get some HPI ones but they wont work with the CEN clutch nut. I was just wondering what everyone else uses on their engines and what my options were for a replacement system, preferrably with scissor springs action. Cheers.

ive only ever used the cen clutch shoes mate, both on the nt16 and on the os18. i did find that i could use a sharp knife to reprofile the shoes and a tiny stretch of the spring to compensate for the wear, would keep me on the road til replacements arrived.
i have heard of the tmaxx clutch spring being used to engage the clutch a little later, supposed to work well, but ive never tried it.

Yeah, the stock one has lasted years in this engine, it is totally knackered now though. I have rescuffed it a few times but I think its rescuffing days are behind it! I guess I'll get the CEN part numbers and re-order the stock ones. Cheers anyway, by the way did you see those Nova ones for the TMAXX in rollands' link? They look like a possibility. Bit flashy for the NT16 though!

Try using this part for a replacement clutch nut,

I am using this on my OS engine. I had to shave a little bit off of the hex end to get the correct length. It may not need to be shortened with the HPI shoes.
I am also using these steel clutch bells,

You supposedly have to use their bearing which I have used with no problems,

But I have found out that you can stack a couple of clutch bell bearings together to replace the needle bearings.
The hardest part of this swap is to get the end of the shaft shortened squarely so the shaft doesn't wobble.
