When you pick the trunk up the front wheels turn with very little resistance.

When you have the truck picked up and are turning the front wheels do you see the front plastic drive shaft turning? Do you hear the transmission's gears turning?

No , the front shaft don't turn at all.

Here is my disclaimer: I am a noob. I just recently took my truck apart for the first time. I am an engineer by trade so this stuff is very second nature.

1. Refer to step 62 in your manual. Look at part GS043. In the next step (step 63) they show a 5 * 5 set screw that secures GS043 to the output shaft of the front differential. This is the first thing I would check. This setscrew should have thread locker on it. There is an access hole drilled on the bottom plate between the 2 posts that secure to servo saver and center link to the truck. I *think* you should be able to see and access this set screw thru that hole. If not you may have to pull the front of the truck off. Its very easy to do, just follow the steps in your manual.

2. There are 2 pin (GS009) assemblies that secure the drive shaft itself to the transmission and GS043. Refer to step 62 to view the front pin and step 30 to see the pin for the transmission. Both these pin assemblies use 2 "E" clips to hold the pins in place. Make sure all "E" clips are present.

3. You may have snapped the GS009 pin assemblies. Unlikely, I think, but it is a possibility.

I still have my truck completely apart so if you want any pictures of any subassemblies let me know.

Check that stuff and let us know what you find...

I have also had a gearbox problem, unfortunately, not so easy to fix.
I had my Genesis LE for 2 weeks, was just finishing breaking it in, when the gearbox broke. It was having trouble shifting from reverse into forward, and then refused to shift into forward at all.
I removed the gearbox, and discovered it was FULL of sand. Presumably it got in through the forward/reverse lever hole. (Design fault I think – it should come with a grommet or boot of some sort). I live in a sandy environment, and have run it on the beach as well (being careful to stay away from the water and wet sand).
After I had gotten over the shock of how much sand was in there, I inspected the gearbox for damage.
There was a lot of damage.
GS006 (1 of the 2 main centre diff cogs - two teeth missing, not adjacent)
GS063 (shaft snapped at pin)
GS054 (shifter cog broken into 3 pieces)
GS069 (bottom end of shifter in many pieces)
GS086 (Reverse cog scarred, but not actually broken)

I sent an email to CEN (on the 2nd of Jan) but didn’t receive any answer, or even an acknowledgement of the email.
After an unacceptable delay, I decided I would just go get a new gearbox for it. Hopefully, a stronger gearbox.
So I ordered the GSS08 (Nemesis Gearbox). I figured I would do battle with CEN about warranty over the broken gearbox later. I planned to go away this coming weekend with the Truck to have some fun with some friends who also have RC Monster Trucks (Not CEN’s)
The GSS08 gearbox arrived yesterday morning. First thing I noticed was it was all in parts, not assembled as the illustration on CEN’s website shows. OK, I can handle that. I started to assemble it. Problem. Several parts are missing!
The Internal gearbox drive shafts are missing;
The Brake Disks are missing;
Some of the internals of the centre diff are missing;
There may be other parts missing, I’m not sure. It didn’t come with a parts list, or any assembly instructions.
I now cant take my truck away for the weekend (makes the trip kinda pointless...... thanks CEN.)
So, I emailed the supplier (XShobby) about this. No help, he has never dealt with the GSS08 before, so didn’t know anything about it.
I emailed CEN asking for confirmation as to how the GSS08 is shipped, and a parts list. No answer.

Does CEN usually take so long to answer emails? or just ignore emails?

I love my Genesis, but so far, the Genesis gearbox and the service has been less than stellar.
I’m thinking maybe they’re closed down for an extra week or so over xmas.

Has anyone else had problems like mine with the Genesis and with CEN?
I’m a patient guy, but my patience is starting to wear thin.
My Truck broke though no fault of mine.
I have been unable to contact CEN.
I decide to just get a full replacement part, and its incomplete.
CEN still [wont answer / hasn’t answered] my emails.

Anyone got any ideas? Suggestions? Helpful hints? Simular experiences?

A small point to all runing a Genesis out there. Seal the Shifter hole. Sand getting in here has been the cause of my problems.

I broke my shift lever after about a week. Thought it was just an accident throwing it in reverse when it wasn't wound down enough. It is a bad design being open like that. I am thinking about going with the new alum nemesis tranny, but don't know about loosing reverse and might have to add it. But it might be easier that way with the new MTM braking on it.

Every time I have emailed CEN. I get a response back in about a day. I am emailing sales for part numbers, etc, and Ken gets back quickly. My buddies glow plug was inop on purchase and Cen has not sent out a new plug yet though, don't know what;s going on with that.,

Where do you guys buy parts for the genesis mine now broke the front control arm. These trucks are no where near as tuff as they claim.
I haven't even beat this thing yet and it's having problems. My brother and several friends where going to get the geniesis , But after seeing mine fale
so easily they are just laughing at me now !!!! I have had several trucks and I know that they are going to break . I'm just a little dissapointed in this truck right now.
So, Is there a good parts sorce out there where I won't have to wait for days to get parts.
Any help would be great.

I go to www.headrushhobbies.com (cheap prices), www.customrccars.com (will match prices), or eBay. I found buying a complete assemby on eBay is much cheaper than buying all the individual parts.

I also go to www.headrushhobbies.com or ebay. Gabby is great over there and gets the parts out quick. Usually 2-3 days time frame. My LHS carries parts too but a little more expensive. Ebay gets some great deals you just have to look. Mostly from people upgrading their parts and selling the originals. Some stores on there are cheaper then headrush but not always.

As I live in Australia, and it seems no-one stocks parts here, so I'm left to look on ebay.
As JPKII stated above, its usually much cheaper to purchase full parts from ebay than ordering in the bits.
If I had known that my trans would break, I could have picked up a complete NEW Genesis trans with brakes etc for $66USD . A week later one went for about $90. If CEN wont come to the party, will have to spend about $60USD on just the parts I need to fix mine. You can imagine how pissed off I am about that!

CEN are continuing to ignore my emails. time for a phone call at around midnight my local time I think.

good luck man - the last time i rang them from the UK, i got a far eastern woman who could barely speak comprehensible english... frustrating when they are quoting a part number back to u and u cant understand what they are saying... eventually she gave me "Kens" email - yes he ignored me.

I'm not going to just go away, and I'm capable or getting very vindictive when someone has done me wrong.
Quite simply, this isn’t good enough.
The Truck is great, but it has some problems that need to be addressed.
The Service (or lack of) SUCKS!!!
You hear that CEN???
You want people to deal directly with the manufacturer (or at least that’s what the supplier states) but you refuse to answer emails regarding problems with your product! This is a warranty situation, and I'm getting pissed with the lack of response.
You don’t even acknowledge receiving my emails!
At this point, I wont be buying a CEN ever again, and unless this is resolved pronto, I'll make sure everyone I know knows about my experience with your lack of service, and incomplete parts when ordered!

If necessary, I'll setup a new website bagging CEN, build it search engine friendly and heavily promote it (that’s one of the things I do for a living, so its not much effort for me)

Becustom, that yellow '58 panel wagon is too cool for school. Some very nice stuff on there.
Raptor 67, go get 'em mate. I reckon the after sales from CEN in the UK and seemingly everywhere apart from the U.S. is rubbish. Most of the time, I know more about the product range than the distributor. Let us know how you get on.

I'm going to give em a few more days, then start something.
Just sent them another email, very civil, restating my concerns more about their poor service than my gripe, so in fairness, I'll give them a few days to consider responding.

Sorry to hear your problems raptor 67 I understand why you are angry at CEN I also should have been very angry with them. It's not very difficult to replay a customs e-mail. It's their jobs to that. With out us they will not exist.
So I hope you get them help you need, if not I don't know if I want to buy a product from them again.

All I can say is that I`m sorry for you. I have had a genesis myself, and I`m never ever going to buy a cen car again for as long as I live. problems, problems and more problems.

Hobby Express International are the ones you need to call here in Aus. They are the CEN importer so get hold of them and give em an ear bashing.
I currently am trying to diagnose a gennie le with box issues as well.
